Ashley Fletcher 'pondering his options'

Astonishing that some posters on here believe he is worth persevering with.... after failing miserably in his first season... he fails miserably at Sunderland and assists in their relegation....then fails miserably again here to help us nearly get relegated ....then has a ‘little bit of form’ before being injured....and producing nothing in an attempt to earn a new contract. I’m sure it’s really difficult in our position to sign capable strikers but ....surely there are better options !

It’s not so much thinking he’s worth persevering with, it’s more that we might financially have our hands tied and we could end up spending less by having him sign on lower terms and bring in a better quality of forward instead having to look for another replacement that may incur fees. I don’t think anyone is wanting him to be our main striker, but based on what we already know he’s adequate as one of several options if he can stay fit.

I see Hugill has his supporters on here- why? Is it his mighty goal return of 3 goals this season? Guess it is up there with our strikers return.

I hope he is not under consideration- he isn’t a great goal scorer.

As it’s been said....at least we can change our strikers. Another season with them would bring the same outcome.

I don't think you can judge Hugill on this season where he's been playing second fiddle to Pukki...it's clearly obvious we need a target man who can operate at this level. Not only that they need to be cheap and available and want to come here. I think Hugill might be even beyond our reach. It's ok saying get rid of Britt, Fletcher and Akpom they're rubbish, but you have to be sure you can bring in better players. It's a big gamble IMO...
I haven't seen many names being mentioned as better alternatives.
Just look at Cosgrove who Brum bought. He was heavily linked with us and he can't get into their side...Brum made the wrong choice and could end up getting relegated. He wasn't as good as who they already had JUKE...
So all those saying get shot, just beware !!!!

You are right to say be careful who you sign Nobby.
But re-signing either Fletcher or Hugill (who would cost a fee anyway) are still gambles.
Neither of them are remotely good enough and have shown that in their time here.
I simply can't believe we can't get better AND better value.

Yes don’t judge by most recent record..... Some of you went overboard about Bolasie. I was set against him based on his last English loan at Aston Villa. It was more a disaster than unqualified success. I think I know who called that right!

Hugill is another expensive misfit. Very rarely has he been prolific. Keep reading Nobby, you might learn something!!!!!

Yeah, if you told me who we could get who was better I would snap your hand off. I just think in the market we are operating in it's going to be hard to find that sort of player Indeedido 👍

Hugill can do a job Nosmo, I would describe myself as an expensive misfit 😆

Definitely dodged one with Cosgrove. Despite his scoring record he's a former CB who Aberdeen fans said at times didn't even look like a footballer.

Cosgrove and Dykes were heavily linked and both gash. Stay clear of 'decent' SPL forwards.

Yup completely agree, we are shopping in a very limited marketplace... someone tell me who's available and is going to be an upgrade on Fletcher cos I'm struggling to identify ANYONE !
For some reason people think Warnock can just magic these goalscoring strikers out of thin air....

Ray Hankin, Bobby Thompson anyone ?????
