Astonishing that some posters on here believe he is worth persevering with.... after failing miserably in his first season... he fails miserably at Sunderland and assists in their relegation....then fails miserably again here to help us nearly get relegated ....then has a ‘little bit of form’ before being injured....and producing nothing in an attempt to earn a new contract. I’m sure it’s really difficult in our position to sign capable strikers but ....surely there are better options !
It’s not so much thinking he’s worth persevering with, it’s more that we might financially have our hands tied and we could end up spending less by having him sign on lower terms and bring in a better quality of forward instead having to look for another replacement that may incur fees. I don’t think anyone is wanting him to be our main striker, but based on what we already know he’s adequate as one of several options if he can stay fit.
