Ashes - 4th Test

yeah was thinking that maybe Australia had an advantage playing the world final game against India to warm them up
Don't forget that they had players in the County Championship teams in the months prior to the test series. Getting used to the conditions but also getting their eye in.

I saw Bairstow getting a run out for Yorkshire (no pun intended) and he looked very rusty.

Bairstow was rightly criticised. That's his second decent batting performance but he's dropped howlers with the gloves that cost the team earlier in the series. Good to see his brilliant catch and batting display this test.
That's the thing isn't it? Brilliant knock yesterday and catch the day before. But has he made up for his performances in the first 2 tests? It's taken 2 tests to get him "match fit" so to speak. That's the decision we've made but I'm not sure positives have outweighed the negatives yet.

Not entirely sure what he's moaning about. He's saying he's struggled because he's just come back from a bad injury. Well isn't that pretty much what his critics' have been saying? He's agreed with them. The point is should he have been playing then? It's a bit arrogant/selfish that he seems to think he should be straight back in the side in those circumstances and not have it questioned.

I do think there's a bit of Michael Jordan psychology going on with him. If he feels people are unfairly having a go he uses that to fire himself up. So I suppose let him crack on, seems to work.

Bairstow - take the wicketkeeper duties off him, have him as a batsman and you will see more of what he did yesterday consistently.

BUT. Who to drop to accommodate a specialist WK?

Think we just have to accept he's not a top level WK/batsman like Gilchrist and in the Bazball system will likely drop catches, score 7 then take a worldie and hit an 80 ball century.

It is what it is, just have to get behind him 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

The forecast suggests it’s very unlikely we’ll see any cricket today and tomorrow’s not much better.

Not a great way to lose the Ashes and a real shame now England are getting hold of their game.

You can’t help looking back on the poor decision making and fielding which have got us to this position….

Depends what weather forecast you look at. Some say there will be a gap between 1-4 today for play. The BBC says rain all day tomorrow but when you look at the rain radar on the same page, there is not/little rain between 2-7

The rader indicates two sessions very possible tomorrow.

I doubt we will see anymore play on this test. It’s not just a case of the rain stopping for any period of time, the outfield will need time to dry and little chance of that. It’s not like as soon as the rain stops they’ll be back on.

Definitely looking more optimistic for a bit of.play this afternoon. This was 80% and 90% all day earlier

It’ll take a couple of hours of dry weather to even get the outfield in a fit state to play.

Can’t see any play at all today unless things change dramatically.

Or tomorrow sadly.

By the time the outfield is playable and the umpires have got round to inspecting the pitch it’ll probably rain again.
