Unless Azaz was actually brought in to be Crooks' replacement? We don't know whether the club were anticipating losing Rogers or not, it was certainly a big surprise to us fans when he became linked with Villa.

Suppose it's probably not healthy to over-analyse these things though. For all we know the plan all along may have been to sign Azaz and not lose any of our own players.

Players come and go all the time in football. They have their own priorities and families to consider.
Carrick expressed his regret that he wouldn't be in a position to develop and improve Rogers, but how was he to know that 6-months down the line, Villa were going to offer us £8M +?

Yeah it's the reality of being in the Championship really. Not always easy to build a squad, or a team even when your best players can so easily have their head turned once a PL club takes an interest.

Injuries have been pretty stacked.. but we’ve kept it respectable. If the squad isn’t there to see lip into another gear.. we’re just gonna be treading water.

No new on Paddy McNair.. looks like he’s seeing his contract out. Dijksteel disappears from the squad for months on end.

Year 3: the promotion year.. all hand on deck, clearing the decks, deck the halls..

We’ve been pretty smart financially in the past few transfer windows.. are we gonna have a big investment in the summer?

Do we continue to cut back and do more for less?

Talk of Gilbert going out on loan, Coburn neatly went to Plymouth in the summer. Coulson is out on loan.. presumably will be looking to move on. O’Brien hasn’t had the best of starts.. but you’d think moving here would suit over anywhere else.

Academy players edging closer to the first team..

Premier league quality for next season.. regardless of where we finish. You thought this summer was hard.. at least we had a template to build off!

Rumours of McGree moving to a big club have been rumbling for a while.. clubs sniffing around Bangura too..

What clubs are after Bangura ? He can’t possibly leave when we’ve spent all that time creating a belting new song for him 😳

Just had a little look through the squads at Sheff United, Burnley last year...
Leicester and Southampton this year .
There's plenty of 25- 30 in their most prominent 17

Lose tomorrow and they may as well start their holidays early. What a frustrating season this is turning out to be. Due to injuries and poor recruitment we never really got started. Please don't bother with free agents that will just compound the problems.

It's the middle season of the rebuild with what's sensible financially..
Keep Mcgree, RVDB , Hackney, Jones for another year we've a chance next year
( depending on 4 coming in with experience and ability .... RB pace , CM athlete , LF defense minded , CF hard work finisher )
