Are we British enough yet?

And food to go back to being sold in pounds and ounces and we are getting the crown back on our pint glasses

It doesn’t sound that bad if you take away the legarequirement part which is mental.

Media minister John Whittingdale told a Royal Television Society conference that shows such as Dr Who, Downton Abbey, Great British Bake Off and Bodyguard had been huge international hits but also reflect Britain and British values.

By contrast many of the shows on streaming platforms appear “generic” because they are designed by algorithm to appeal to a global audience. (Apparent to anyone with a Netflix account)

Britishness meant “reflecting all parts of the UK”.
(Key point, seems reasonable?)

Broadcasters should make programmes for British audiences primarily rather than for global sales, Mr Whittingdale said. (Good for the uk consumer?)

I think if you changed “Legal requirement” to “focus” on British programming it’s an entirely reasonable idea

Am I going mad?

I thought you were joking, what an absolute shambles.

It just shows the evil, lying propoganda that goes on. He was not convicted of breaching EU rules banning the sale of fruit and veg in pounds and ounces. No such rule existed. There was nothing to stop him displaying the weights in pounds and ounces. He was convicted for refusing to show the weights of his fruit and veg in metric so that younger people could understand them.
(The hypocrite still took payment in decimal currency though didn't he?)

One more sign of the creeping, creepy nationalism that's slithered in while we all slept...

Without the rest of the world.. we're pretty naff. A national of semi-criminal. alcoholic sado masochists.

He was happy to, he liked pounds remember

What bloody mess this country is in. I really think those in Government now think they're on the verge of turning back time to days of Empire. Shouldn't we send a bunch of Eton boys to India and tell them we can run their country better than they do?

It's hard to believe that it was only a couple of hundred years ago that the primary spoken language in Britain was French, apart from the commoners that is.

Thought it most appropriate to reply to your post, given your username :)
My username was taken from an Australian goalkeeper named Norman Conquest and had nothing to do with the pub or William the conqueror.

I was looking for an unusual footballers name and stumbled across this. 😜👍
