Anyone watching Johnson at 4pm?

The Tory junta have calculated they can't risk killing off too many more of their human capital stock, otherwise their portfolios will start showing bigger losses than if they keep some alive.

What a disgrace.

Cancelling Christmas 6 days because you were too cowardly to do it earlier.
Exactly. I stated on here a few weeks ago the 5 day thing was nothing but a crowd pleaser because they haven't got the gumption to make effective decisions when it matters, so now they have to back peddle which is arguably more damaging than being decisive to begin with, people's hopes have been dashed. I was never supportive of the 5 day break anyway, but for those whose hopes have been lifted by it, this is a big blow, but could have been mitigated against

So he's doing what everybody wanted, yes it's taking a little longer than expected but surely this is a good thing???

"A little longer than expected"

If Joe Bloggs knows it's too late then why is the PM prevaricating.

People have booked expensive train tickets, spent money on food, saved up annual leave. A bit of notice, some long term thinking.

Generally - some thinking that was about the benefit of the country and not the benefit of Boris Johnson would be nice.

Not people who thought hang on a minute is this really sensible, travelling to see my family. I have posted earlier I'm not seeing my dad this Christmas as we didn't think it would be right, despite what the prime minister said.

Yeah - but you're stepping in to defend him.

Some clear messaging - rather than telling people 'go bananas at Christmas' then 'be careful at Christmas' to 'christmas is cancelled', he needed to have a single clear and honest message for the public, not leave it to them to divine what he really meant.

Why not just admit the messaging on this has been a ***show, rather than blaming people who have taken the gov at their word?

Some people prefer the taste of boot to Turkey, I guess

If the government was proactive rather than populist seeking reactive, then it wouldn't need people to think about doing the right thing despite the PM.

This mess is at their door with them making the same mistakes over and over with no long term plan.

Boris Johnson is out of his depth and woefully inept.

If anybody is still shocked and surprised at this fkn idiot of a PM and gevernment then all hope is definitely gone ! Clowns of the very highest order...and the M20 is getting rather chokka at the minuet too .....Conservatives are making a right royal fk up of this country.....

What a bar steward. Johnson the Chicken. If he'd have taken notice of every scientist and every opposition leader he would have cancelled Christmas weeks ago and probably gained a bit of credibility for it. But no, the aren't I popular for giving you a present moron couldn't see this.
Just like the reasonable idea to start giving pupils a rapid test when they return after the holidays, but to announce it on Thursday Der. Then to say teachers are doing the testing.......... Oh no they are not. Are we in a Pantomime? I know the answer to that
We have spent the last four years laughing at Mr Trump thinking that's crazy. It's not so crazy now.
Ah well it'll be Jan 1st soon A new year things are bound to get better or will they?

Hold on a minute I'm not defending him at all, what I am is assuming is that everybody knows the man doesn't know his **** from his elbow.
At no point did I or most people on here think the 5 day, 3 households thing was a good idea, so I planned accordingly.

Although to be fair at no point did the government say go bananas at Christmas.

I just think, and maybe this is where I am a little naive (see my DC comments), people should listen to that voice inside their head and if that says it's not a good idea, then regardless of the law or government advice, it's probably not a good idea.

I think you are being too optimistic. I saw just a few days ago people being asked their opinion of Johnson. It was jaw-dropping. The people asked seemed to base their opinion of him on his persona. One bloke said he seems like a cheery chap so that's why he likes him. The stupid hurts but there is no vaccine.
