Anyone own or owned a Flying V?

Never played one, for some reason, I don’t like the look of them or Explorers, but they’re a great guitar by all accounts - as long as you don’t play sat down. A real gigging guitar.
Always understood they were a bit head stock heavy on the strap as the body is quite light… but not played one, as I said. I should…

My mate had a Gibson Flying V and sold it as he didn’t like it. Similarly I had a Gibson SG standard and hated it, the neck was far too heavy and wasn’t comfortable to play. I bought a Tele Player Plus earlier this year and don’t play anything else now as it’s so perfect.

I knew someone who had an Aria one, not quite in the league of a Gibson one but it was decent. I like the look of flying V's but I reckon you need to be able to really shred like Michael Schenker to look right or justify having one.

So I've acquired one, not especially expensive Epiphone. Plays really nicely and feels like a proper fast/metal guitar. I like the light body but you do have to watch the headstock slipping down when your hands aren't on the frets. Tricky to play sitting down but I prefer to play it standing up anyway (in front of the mirror   ).

Justification to buy one, always fancied one, but really it would be extravagance.
I love Albert King and Jimi used one IOW. and Ive seen Schenker 4 times and I stood but a yard from Michael Schenker all gig, may as well have been on stage :) Nothing like him to be honest.

I have a couple of acoustics Washburn Millenium DM 2000S which I bought at Georges Guitar Gallery DTD Orlando in 2001- a Guild F150R.
Electric I have TokaiATE52GS Tele which I bought from a mate. A Mahalo Ukulele Les paul electric style which was a present. A fender Bluesman Junior is my amp.

I also have an few harps in different keys (I was heavily into Paul Butterfield at the time) I found I could lug harp no problem). and a Shure green bullet, I got for Christmas around 15 or more years ago.

The close mate I used to take encouragement was a full blown artist, and once came 2nd on the TV show New Faces, unfortunately he is very unwell now. So I enjoyed the hobby for years, but seldom now get a chance to play with others, but I'm hoping to when I to get well enough ,as its a b***r to sit with a guitar for a while just now.

So I've been teaching myself to draw and trying different styles while I've been recovering, and I'm loving messing around and beginning to improve. Spent a small fortune on stuff too:giggle:
Couldn't draw the dole before.

Albert the king
Saw Albert King at Newcastle City Hall in 1969. Happy days!
