Anyone own or owned a Flying V?

I saw BB King, at the Ark. He was past it sadly. Our band was support to Chicken Shack once - Stan Web was not a happy camper for some reason, but he could play still.

My gigging guitar was a US Std Tele and it was beautiful, with a Boogie Studio 22 (how heavy,) - I had to sell both, and after the band split I wasn’t using them.

Currently playing a lovely 1991 Mexican Strat (produced by the Fender custom shop according to the serial number), a Fret King Elise JE, and a modified Fender 51 (Tele stock pickups), through a Yamaha THR.

I love the feel and look of the Elise, but the Strat has better tone.

I love guitars so much… dangerous…

I once had a USA RR Jackson FLying V ... not the kind of thing I would dream of using these days ha ha ... but thought it was the best thing in the world at 14 years of age. Had a fretboard a dream to play on and a loud guitar, Floyd Rose the lot.

Not quite Gibson or Epi, but still a V

I miss the thing and wish I still had it as a novelty item for the wall or sommet haha

That's a cracking guitar to have had at 14 (y)

Mate of mine has / had (current status unknown) one, a Gibson, mainly because of this bloke, Andy Powell of Wishbone Ash. He does collect guitars but I think even he thought it was too unwieldy, and as has been pointed out you can't comfortably sit down with one.artworks-000112238961-cd0kol-t500x500.jpg

Tear drop 12 stringer, very unusual Mart.

My mate has some nice guitars a very early Lowden and a 12 stringer Takamine and he is /was a superb player he has some very collectable gear that just sits. He has an original Vox AC 30 1964 piggyback /top boost amp with tremolo switch with a boxed original blue speaker (unused)

And this below, heaviest guitar I've ever played (a little bit) Its a Les Paul Professional but his is a 1972. It had the head stock snapped and repaired.

It had high impedance pick ups and I read a column saying it was actually Les Pauls favourite guitar.

Wow. That is a choice. I'm not a fan, but do appreciate anyone liking something less mainstream. Really interesting.
I haven’t seen one on line for sale for a few years and they’re real collectors, built in fuzz and reverb too.

Might have to be for a 66 which are easier to find and cheaper but aren’t semi hollow and don’t have built in effects

Really interesting. I would love to try one out. I remember Musicground in Doncaster used to keep that kind of thing in stock when they were around - I miss that place. Loads of vintage electrics. Not sure where I'd go, to see that kind of range, now - York possibly. No one carries that level of stock now.

Too right. I only had a Satellite with action so high you could keep your sandwiches under it.
I never even had one at 14, I'd only got as far as looking at the Kay's guitars in my Mam's catalogue 😗
(True story, that's what my first guitar was)

My first guitars were a Satellite and a Kay - awful, awful things. I spotted this on a visit to the Leeds guitar show last year - it looks exactly like the one I had. I couldn't believe anyone would buy it, but the guy had done a full set up on it to make it very playable - but it still sounded like Kay though. As thin as cheesewire.

Never had the patience to learn guitar but for aesthetic reasons alone I 've always been drawn to the Rickenbacker...

I think it the lines through the cutaway where the neck joins the body.
