Anyone doing dry January?

I've had a lot of problems starting October 5, 2023, and since then have been on either 1l of vodka or 70cl vodka + a bottle of wine almost every day since then. Finally took the plunge into quitting on Jan 2nd, so am on the verge of completing a week sober for probably the first time in 8 years! Anyone on here been through similar?
Well done @JimboJenkins, small steps to climb huge heights.

Keep on believing you can do it and you will reach your goal.

Casual drinker, glass of wine a night etc, but I’ve never done it before, and im training for a half marathon in April.

So far so good. A couple of things aren’t helping, the fridge being full of wine post Xmas, and also thinking what to drink as a b alternative, don’t really want to start drinking loads of fizzy soft drinks (even if they are sugar free).

One thing I have noticed, could be a coincidence, suffer from mild psoriasis, that is definitely better with no alcohol

My psoriasis got so bad, coinciding with the start of my bad year of boozing... hoping it goes away now. Hadnt had it for years before

Haven't had a drink since 14th January last year, originally due to having a few drinks while on meds and feeling absolutely horrible, decided about half way through last year that it wasn't for me anymore, never again touching alcohol and I feel miles better.

Started on the 5th and planning to stay dry until the London Marathon at the end of April.
Let's see how it goes.
Have done dry January a couple of times so anything over 31 days would be the longest probably since I was 17

Not read the full thread yet , so this has probably been said. But be careful if you are going fully cold turkey. Alcohol withdrawals are very dangerous. Seek professional help and taper if necessary. I have an alcoholic family member. And when she has gone full cold turk she has had violent DTs, full body convulsions. It's a scary sight.
