Any keen chess players?

I had never been on Chess.com before but just signed up to it after seeing this post. I'm not very good not really played in years and years so will give the site a go.

I'm no grandmaster, but I used to play online chess a lot. I found that I rarely if ever won, and only after a considerable time did I realise that cheating is absolutely rife in online chess. Not everyone of course.

Can usually tell when someone is cheating. However I usually play games over longer periods. 3 days per move for example. If someone is cheating over the course of that time then I admire their persistence.

I was pretty good at school and as teenager, wouldn't have been surprised if I was around 1800 rating back then (if the ratings were easy to figure out then), maybe even higher, but my memory and concentration are terrible these days. I would be lucky to beat a 1400+ these days (if they weren't cheating) as I've forgot nearly all the openings/ responses. I can do the puzzles to ~1400-1500 though, when I'm back into it.

I keep signing up ~ once a year on holiday and then letting the membership lapse.

I got a chess computer when I was about 6, and used to play it for hours a day, and beat the headmaster/ won the competition when I was about 8 at school, must have been embarrassing for him as the tourney was his idea

You’re definitely a few levels above me but I’m up for a challenge if you are?
