Another below average Jones performance.

When Maddo said "thats more like the jones of old" it implies he has dropped off his bes. I agree with that but he needs more free reign

Is this the lad who started proffessional footbal in 2019? The lad who had 3 years proffessional coaching? He might improve a bit over the next couple of years, who knows.

His stats don't back up the opinion that he is not as effective as last year. People are picking up on the fact he has to defend occassionally when the ball is going down the left. I suspect his stats will be better this year from less maisey runs and less deliveries than last year because teams will have more to think about this year.

If his stats continueas is he will score 8 and get 16 assists. I think Wilder would be happy with that, and that is with no improvement.

This RWB role makes him predictable. He made an initial impact as, well, an impact player. Coming off the bench at Craven Cottage, playing on the left.
If he's tied down to the right wing constantly he'll get kicked more. Starting on the bench occasionally wouldn't do any harm either.

I think some people are forgetting that he's naturally a right winger. He's now having the learn the defensive side of the game under Wilder and despite this he's still getting some impressive numbers. As laughing says ^ if he continues as he is he will finish the season with 8 goals and 16 assists. No one could complain with that from a wing back.

Absolute nonsense. He is very much a key position in the way we play. Very much like Giles.

You take either of them out of this side and we are far weaker for it.

The very nature of how high they both play and the formation means they will get caught out and cost us a few goals. Just like CBs playing out from the back. It will eventually cost us a goal or two.

It's funny when people have said 'he's not kicked on'. I mean if he kicked on anymore then we'd not have him😂. Also it was always going to be hard to replicate last season. He was arguably the best RWB in the champo (with Spence). So now he's just a 'decent' one. Talkabout high expectations lol.

I guess Smith maybe better defensively. Yet not seen enough to say either way. Yet izzy already has 1 goal and 2 assists. So you'd lose that going forward.

I don’t think it was below average - he did well. For me the coaches must quickly work on his crossing and choice of pass. I think most notice the predictability of the low ball driven in. Some variation would help and keep defenders even more on their toes.

As Laughing pointed out no mattter how you think he played his stats are very good.

I’ll say this. In Giles and jones we have 2 of the best fullbacks in the league.
From what I seen yesterday we are now going to have a really solid, physical back 3 who can also play football. That will afford jones and Giles the freedom to get forward about more and hopefully ease the reliance of their defensive games a little. Wilder done this at Sheffield utd with a similar back 3. They were fantastic to watch for 2 seasons until Covid flattened them

The lad is not willing to take the full backs on as much which is disappointing as there is plenty of cover behind him playing 3 centre backs

He plays a lot better in tandem with Matt Crooks. I thought he had a decent game yesterday was a little unlucky to get booked for being pushed and was a constant worry to Swansea.

I think his defensive play is generally good though he has missed a few tackles this season which have resulted in dangerous attacks (and goals)

Absolute tripe, either on a wind up or not too bright. Constant berating of our players is a bit tedious.
I’ll bet Jones is covered in bruises after yesterday. They just seem to try and boot him

The problem is we are judging him against his own exceptionally high standards in his break through season. I think there is a lot more to come from him yet.

If I got kicked as much as he does I think I’d be hiding in most games. At the match yesterday and my lad turned to me and said, Swansea might do better if they kicked the ball as well as they kick Jones

Thought he played well yesterday.
Personally I think if we want to get the best out of Jones, he always plays much better with Dijksteel at RCB rather than McNair.
Some great triangles played between Jones, Dijksteel and Crooks which gets us up the pitch and usually results in Jones getting to byline to cross.

To be fair how often have we seen McNair play RCB, not very much. I’m a big Dijksteel fan but the shirt is McNairs at the minute and rightly so. Thought he did well yesterday
