Another below average Jones performance.

I think Jones and Giles are both square pegs in round holes as wingbacks and there are tradeoffs to asking both of them to do that job. Jones' engine and workrate in doing that last season was particularly notable but it's also part of why he got quieter later in the year. The defensive side of Giles' game has been shown to be frail but he's even sharper than Jones going forward.

I think we'd be too weak in central midfield but as wingers they'd thrive with less responsibility in a 4-4-2 system, or 4-3-3 if we had that one quality striker leading the line.

Personally think Jones is the weak link in what could be a very good side. He had an absolute purple patch at the start of last season when he was unplayable at times. However the last dozen games of last season and the start of this he has been very poor going forward, often wasteful and has one cross, short to front post which teams have sussed out. I think it would be interesting to see Smith in the side for a few games which would shore up the back line up (Jones isn’t really a defender) and help with keeping clean sheets. Jones is definitely living on the credit of his amazing start to last season and needs to do more to stay in a rapidly improving team where nobody’s place is safe.

Jones scored against West Brom, got an assist against Sheffield United, quickly followed by an assist against Stoke.

He's contributing plenty to the team right now.

We've looked less stable defensively, probably partly caused by the constant shuffling of the backline and Jones in particular struggled against QPR, but going forwards we're scoring more than we were last season.
We've scored twice in 4 of our 6 games, and had many opportunities to add to those tallies.

Jones could easily have had a couple more assists on top of what he has but for players missing gilt edge chances.

Oh look, another new board member posting controversial rubbish to get attention. Wonder who it could be? 🙄
