And so the Chuba rumours start

Payero isn’t a number 10 he’s an 8
I don't think Hamer is a 10 naturally either. Only got pushed up there due to an injury to O'Hare. Almost by chance and its revolutionised their season because the last quarter of the season he has been immense

That £2.7m risk isn't true though.

We risk losing the amount someone will offer us.

And someone will definitely offer us much much more than £2.7m.
But it's highly unlikely we get a cheque for, say, £20m. It will be paid in installments so getting -say - £6-7m up front, paying £10m + for a suitable replacement.......figures suddenly don't seem to stack up.

We also know he CAN score goals in this team, no guarantee his replacement will.

Selling him or keeping him it's a big, big gamble.

I'd be absolutely gutted to lose him but if any team is offering close to that sort of money there is no way we can turn it down. Can't imagine anyone would pay that based on one good season though
Its all about how much risk we are willing to take on one player and at £25m (plus a big package for any new contract for him) it's an obvious choice.

We have a limited budget and there's no guarantee that he'll reproduce this seasons form, plus that type of money can strengthen several parts if the team - assuming its invested back into the team of course.

I really hope he stays, he's a class act and I'd back him to do it in the PL too, but I'm realistic about the situation too.

Boro always factor big transfer fees received so - if the agreed fee is £20 million - Boro would get about £19 million straight away.

It doesn’t add up because you don’t have boro paying in instalments which we would likely do.

Payero isn’t coming back, deal already agreed and they know they can buy him and sell him for more straight away. I expect these rumours to be used for Akpom’s agent to get the best deal for him, at 28 and after the season he’s had this next contract is massive financially for Akpom. I feel he’s happy here, but at the end of the day it’s his career and the agent is employed to get the best deal he can wherever that might be
Could they? Wasn't the rumour they were going to buy him then sell him on for £15m? Think about how ridiculous that is. No club in the world is going to pay for that much Payero. He's done nowt at Boca that would suggest he's even worth a 3rd of that. Boca might buy him but no way are they immediately selling him on for a profit

it's a fake account.

I see no benefit in selling Akpom this summer unless a) it's silly money like £40m or b) he downs tools and pushes for a move (seems unlikely)

If we sold him for £15m-£20m we would have to spend the same to replace him with no guarantee they would be as good. It would seriously impact on our chances of going up next season and doing which (going up) would recoup any of the loss if he did eventually leave on a free. Seems a gamble worth taking.

Is £25m ridiculous in today's football world?

He's had a wonderful season and it isn't just about his goals.

The Geordies paid over £20m for Wilson and £15m for Wood. I'd say he's way better than Wood and more reliable than Wilson.

If that's true about Payero then why aren't we simply cutting out the middle man and selling him ourselves for the higher price?

You really don’t have a clue
I don’t have a clue about what? You still think archer is worth 30? £10-12m is about right I was also right about Isaiah jones and I took a lot of stick in that thread. Just because you don’t agree doesn’t make me wrong.
