Surely that last one was definitely made upI'd like to think the majority were made up, but I fear they probably weren't.
Or VizThat sounds like it came out of a readers digest circa 1973
I think the fact that the spelling and grammar are near-perfect indicates that they are probably made-up. But perhaps based on real complaints.I'd like to think the majority were made up, but I fear they probably weren't.
Hence why bars like "The Red Lion" are so popular abroad. people want the sun, and cold beer with their egg and chips along with some bingo and a karaoke. In my experience of working with holiday makers abroad most are not far off the mark.
The phrase "Holiday makers leave their brains at home" was reflective of a lot of guests.
The amount of complaints that hotels/ restaurants in Greece only served Greek food was astounding. Some British people want the foreign experience, without the foreigners (basically the sunshine). Even then complaints that it is too hot, or they were not informed how hot it would be were common.
Sure am- Lived here about 17 years. I'll drop you a message later!@BoroinBuxton - sorry for hijaking the thread, but assume you're located in Buxton, Derbyshire ?
We've got a few days away booked there at the end of this month, and would love recommendations in terms of places to eat, or must do things in and around the town. We'll have a 4 month old baby in tow, so Buxton's nightclubs and casinos probably wont be that high on our list but anything else you suggest would be great.
Cheers
I seem to remember Jasper Carrot doing that type of insurance claims in his actYears ago I was sat in an insurance office on Linthorpe r Road waiting to be seen so I picked up their in house magazine and they had a selection of quotes from insurance claims. I remember one almost word for word. I had been driving for over twenty years when I fell asleep and hit the gentleman.
Bill’s fish and chips on the way out on the way to Dove Holes. On the left hand side after the bend, and there’s a blokes bin opposite you can put the wrappers in.@BoroinBuxton - sorry for hijaking the thread, but assume you're located in Buxton, Derbyshire ?

I'm going to message Lizards in any case, but I'm wondering whether there's a demand for a Boro take on Buxton...... It could be a XMAS stocking filler or door stop..Bill’s fish and chips on the way out on the way to Dove Holes. Used to do a lot of work in Leek and that was a great stop off on the way home for tea (dinner for the southerners)I'm going to message Lizards in any case, but I'm wondering whether there's a demand for a Boro take on Buxton...... It could be a XMAS stocking filler or door stop..
That shop used to have the marvellous hand written sign on the window 'Dinner, Tea, Supper' complete with opening times. I often wondered what southern brethren would make of it
