Thinks I’m trying to bait him with my opinion which isn’t the case, Messi is in the list of special footballers to have graced the game but he will be outdone when the next one comes along. Could be Haaland, Bellingham or anyone pushing through, the next best thing apparently plays in Sunderland’s academy and is being lined up by man united and Liverpool.

Ronaldo v Messi has never been close.
The only thing that is close is the goal scoring.
Messi still has a better goals per game ratio.
Messi isn't just a goalscorer...last night can be used as evidence of that.
Messi is just simply a better footballer in every way possible.
He makes everyone around him better

Best ever for me.
I saw him once years ago in a friendly v Portugal at Old Trafford. Think it was October time, he hugged the touchline first half, trying desperately not to get injured and then got hooked at half time. Stand out player in that game was actually Pepe, don't think I've ever seen a player read the game as well as him.
Went to PSG last season but unfortunately it was the tail end of Covid and him and Neymar were still away with their respective countries.
That Mbappe kid looked good though

You may be right and certainly the odds suggest that.
Here's my logic. France ain't great defensively and morroco may well grab a goal. I would be surprised if France find it easy to score and may really struggle for 2. I know morroco are likely missing key players but defensive patterns are relatively easy to coach so I don't expect them to change their approach.
France are just above 1to2 to win inside 90 minutes that's a great lay bet, in my opinion.
This will be only the 3rd game I will have watched, really looking forest's to it.

I agree I think a lot depends on who scores first as we saw wi to Croatia chasing a game is a completely different thing to defending a lead.
As I say it is Morocco but I just can’t see it.

For me Ronaldo is a phenomenal athlete and he has great fitness and strength. He clearly hones his talents in the gym via technique etc.
Whereas messi is just god given natural talent.

It’s just opinions at the end of the day, not a lack of understanding football. Messi is the best player of the last few decades and is better than Ronaldo but Ronaldo isn’t far behind him IMO.

Yep, agree, Ronaldo has been a fantastic player and his sheer dedication to the sport is there for all to see. He really does eat, breath and drink football and his will to win is up there with the very best.
However, he still doesn't come remotely close to Messi IMO. Messi is just a freak.
An absolute pleasure to watch and know I've seen him live.
I do believe they have both used and pushed each other beyond any other limits that has previously been seen.
If they both weren't around in the same era, I don't think we'd have seen them reach these current astonishing high levels.
I don't think we'll see anything of the like again neither.
The stats Messi will leave behind once he hangs his boots up will probably last a very very long time.

That's an amazing thing about him. He never rests. They took of players 10 years younger thinking about Sunday but he never goes off.
The man is incredible. For me GOAT. Better than Ronaldo for sheer skill and being a complete team player.
The Netherlands match was the first time I've ever been disappointed watching him. I saw him play acting along with the rest of them and constantly chirping to the ref. I suppose its the pressure but I've never seen it before.
