Our play broke down a few times in the first half thorough him yesterday but he improved as the game wore on and he stopped a certain goal with his last ditch tackle. I’d rather we signed a proper left sided forward and let azaz and Gilbert fight it out for the #10 role

Thought he did okay, still seems lightweight but there is certainly a player in there. Was it him who put in the fantastic outside of the boot ball over the top at the start of the game?

Yes it was
He also put Thomas clean through in the second half when the keeper saved

That tackle was superb - Ayling even stopped during play straight after with the ball at his feet to applaud Gilbert

Thought his tackle in the second half to prevent a certain goal was outstanding. Great pace shown there too. And he’s always got bits of quality with his passing ability

Real desire and commitment. Sadly lacking from too many over recent years.

It’s worth pointing out he’s still only 22 and has played less than 20 games in his career, most off the bench. He may not be in the first 11 at the start of next season but he should be a very capable backup and may progress enough to be there by the end.

I really wish we gave him more opportunities earlier this year especially when Greenwood was so out of form.

Not saying he would have been the difference to get us the extra points to get into playoffs but Carrick definitely stick with Greenwood for too long.

I wrote him off but he looks good, possibly a deeper role is suiting him perfect

I think he has been managed really well and is showing the hunger and desire added to his natural ability. He will appreciate his spell in the wilderness more and the effort he has had to display, if he continues with that will benefit his career immensely. There will be more to come from him also. For an attacker he has excellent vision and passing ability.
