Don't forget we thought we'd re-signed him from Villa (maybe under Pulis?) Think it fell through on wages or some other detail.I really liked Adomah. Shame we didn't keep him. We really struggled at times in the PL with not having enough options. He was better wide right than Stuani and he would have been better on the left than Fischer. After relegation we'd have been far better with him than Braithwaite or Fletcher. I don't think I thought it was a bad decision at the time but with hindsight then maybe it was. Although maybe it was needed to get Traore in which case it was the right decision.
It seems odd that he's still playing. It felt like we got rid of him because he was getting on but he's still playing 9 years later. He wasn't even 30 when he left us.
I didn't want us to sell us him. I know the rumour was he was needed as a makeweight to get Traore in, but I'm sure we could have landed Traore anyway. One of my favourite players from the Karanka era, definitely deserved a chance to be part of the PL squad
Played the opening game against Stoke, think he was on the bench at Sunderland then sold not long after it memory serves me right.I had to look that up, as my memory was playing tricks on me. I could've sworn he played for us in that PL season! I'm surprised to see that he left Boro at the start of the season (albeit having played a couple of games, but I really thought he'd stayed longer than that).
But imagine a team with Adomah and TraoreWe did swap him for Traore, which could be argued was a good deal for us.
i think Adomah would've done a better job for us in the premier league that season, maybe not kept us up but increased our chances. Traore didn't really become effective until the season after. Financially yes we did well out of the deal itself, although going down did us no favours on that front. We did swap him for Traore, which could be argued was a good deal for us.
After the pretty bleak Strachan days , I allways remember Albert as a player who put a smile back on people's faces & made me kind of fall in love with the game again. Top player & allways seems like a good guy as well .
