Anyone use them. Found some really good ones about and used a few over the years in the USA and the UK. Often cheaper than hotels and a homely feel.

Appreciate the sentiment and agree with how they disproportionately affect local communities. Listened to a podcast recently on the impact being had on ordinary families in Cornwall with a huge number of rivate rented sector landlords turning to holiday let's.Great way to destroy communities.
It happened to me in North Devon. The local landlords were converting their homes to air bnb and holiday cottages. They made a lot of money during the pandemic. However there were no houses for locals to rent.Appreciate the sentiment and agree with how they disproportionately affect local communities. Have to be honest though and say that they offer an incredible service for their users, a million miles apart from the offering of others and I use them semi regular. The incentives to use them are incredibly high
You pay through Air B n B and not directly to the owner, obviously you have facts to back up your claim.Won't use them, too many tax dodging owners. Somebody called Rishi owns one in Santa Monica I believe.

Will never go to Barcelona again. The police need to get a grip on the excessive street crime there. Avoid public transport. Will be using one in Barcelona next month.
Just do your usual due diligence, check reviews etc.
It was a Dispatches programme I think, about 5 or 6 years ago maybe a bit longer about the problems at the time in Barcelona. It specifically mentioned tax dodging, I decided then that I wouldn't use them. More recently a group of my friends had booked a large apartment in Scotland through Air bnb, just before they were due to go it was cancelled as the owners had received a better offer from some other people almost double the previously agreed amount. They are looking at ways to try and get some compensation. You pay through Air B n B and not directly to the owner, obviously you have facts to back up your claim.
