Adam Armstrong

Would love that, but I don't see it happening.

Saints only have Adams & Armstrong as strikers. Shane Long is 35 years old so will highly be a factor for them.

Would be all over this, he was excellent in the Championship.

Could possibly see them considering it if they sign new strikers.
He struggled last season with them, so they're probably going to try and bring in somebody new.

Hustenhal didnt fancy Armstrong.......he'd be happy to get some wages off the books to fund a new striker

The fact he is from the north east will surely give us the edge over anyone else if there really is a possibility he goes out on loan. Also we are desperate for strikers and are probably going to build a good team. Would be great if we pull this off

I really cant see him dropping to the championship, he's far too good for it. i could see him ending up at somewhere like forest if hes is surplus to requirements there.

I'd have him ahead of Gayle. Then I'd have both 😂

That said im sure it wouldn't be very straightforward. Southampton are short of forwards and he's on a few quid. I would think a considerable loan fee. I think we paid nearly 2mil to loan Hugill.

Personally I think the strikers we've been linked with are exactly what we need.
We know Wilder likes to have 5 strikers, we know Watmore will stay and likely Coburn as that fith option.
You're looking at 3 strikers walking into Rockliffe this summer

We don't know the original budget, we don't know the original wage structure.
What we do know is barring that one splurge with Monk when Gibson has a manager he believes in they'll get backed. Karanka's second season lays proof to that. Nugent/Downing/Stuani/Ramirez do not come cheap.

You have to take our original budget, add the war chest from Djed Spence, the money received our of the loan move, the wages of those moved on, any future buisness we do and the Derby settlement money into account. Our budget will be relatively large thie year.

We've already beaten out a host of clubs to Leinhan who's regarded as one of the best center halfs in the league, maybe oh top of the budget we finally have the manager who can persuade players to come.

Armstrong is a Geordie, maybe he wants to come back to the North East in a league he knows he can look like a world beater in
There's a very real possibility if Boro push hard enough this summer they can get who they want within reason
