A Few Words For Neil Warnock

Really disappointed Warnock's gone and in how toxic some posters have become.

I'll be making sure Wilder is judged the same way Warnock was.... So of course he won't be able to blame the ref or injuries on bad results 👍😉

Not exactly sure what he didn't deserve? It has already been mentioned that he did a good job keeping us up after Woody , but we could have appointed any seasoned championship manager who would have done the same with that squad. This season we would have finished mid table with no hopes of the play offs.

The club for once have at least took decisive action now and which will hoepfully keep the season interesting rather than doing this in the new year with the season already over.

Will miss his persona, attitude and wise craics with the media. He cheered the fans up through the pandemic for sure with his positivity ...already seen wilder seems decent bloke but will be less entertaining and maybe more proffesional with the media...., id take that as long as his team does the business and we are lifted by better results and performances on the pitch and not with the media. Overall i do feel sad for warnock, need a few games to clear the memories , like thinking of an ex when you start a new relationship after years together, it takes time but you know your new girlfriend is much better really so bring on this new chapter. Good luck to warnock and wilder in their new paths.

All managers should be judged on one criteria and that's results, Warnock has gone because the results weren't good enough.

If you read his autobiography every time he's been dismissed he's always been a game away from turning it around, a signing short of completing the jigsaw, unlucky with injuries, hampered by international call ups or ousted by internal politics, Warnock uses his profile to project a narrative that he's a victim of misfortune and has not been given the time, money or support to achieve the goals set by various clubs.

The question I ask is if things were so bad at the club why did he sign on for another season, surely he'd have been better off leaving at the end of his contract knowing that he was getting away from a situation where he was marginalised and his influence reduced ?

There's no room for sentiment in football, yes he steadied the ship after Woodgate but results in 2021 haven't been good enough. Do you want a club fighting for top 6 places in the Championship or a mid table, inconsistant also ran? Time for Wilder to take us up a notch (I hope).

It would be nice ( naturally if he wished ) to have him at the Riverside sometime and give him a VIP day with an applause pre KO . It would also be nice for him to have his missus with him as she surrendered him to us when we needed him .

It was mission accomplished and I'm eternally grateful as we were well and truly collapsing when he came in .

He's a guy I'd love to buy a pint for and sit with him and listen to some of his recollections , especially the Gestede meeting ( word for word ) 🤭

The Gestede thing; looking back it was such a shrewd/clever/cynical move. He openly said he read this forum and others so will have known Gestede was a very unpopular player. By sending him packing he had everyone onside from minute one. Perfect PR for Warnock and makes him look good.

I’m not saying I wanted Gestede to be hanging around, far from it, but that was a calculated move on Warnock’s part and an example of the way he works. He knew how it would go down and used the opportunity to show some ruthlessness. He plays the media/PR game more than most others.

Loved Warnock and his style , the results this season and last were poor, lost games we should have won, how much is down to the back room bickering with Bauser and the Morsey scandal ... who knows, its been great having you at my club ... Nuff said
I do believe we took the opportunity at fhe right time to start the new era which we would have had to have done anyway in May 2022.

Results as you say have been on the whole poor for the expectation with the players we have. Warnock was backed by no less than 24 new players in the last 18 months plus some promising youth players in addition.

There were clearly backroom issues within the Club's hierarchy but blaming Bausor and Morsey blow out in any way on performances at Hull, Reading, Coventry and at home to Birmingham, QPR and Blackpool and absolving the manager of any blame? I don't think we can. There were some good results intermixed and proves to me at least we have a squad capable and strong enough of making the playoffs.

I blame the tea lady personally as whatever was in their half time cuppas acted like a sedative that usually took 20 mins to get out of their system.

This was my issue with both Warnock and Pulis. There was always an issue. Something in the background, injuries, refs etc etc. My impression of Wilder is of someone who will look to be ambitious with whatever hand he is dealt.

This isn't a criticism of your post, it's all about personal preference, but all his "banter" went totally over my head. All that matters is what happens on the field for me, i couldn't care if Wilder turns out to be the most boring man in the world if he gets the team performing. For me Warnock did his job initially keeping us up but other than that it's another period totally devoid of any significant memories. From that point of view i feel absolutely nothing in terms of that era ending.

Who gave Coburn his chance like? Who gave Jones his chance?
He gave Coburn a chance because Ikpeazu - his signing - has been somewhat underwhelming so far. He gave Jones a chance due injuries and us not having any other option.

Stop trying to make out he is some genius - he even said himself that Jones only got in due to having no other options.

He did a good job keeping us up yes, but since then we havent really progressed on the pitch. He wants to blame everyone else anytime things went wrong, tactically he was from the Jurassic period and it was obvious he had 'his' players and wasnt too keen on the ones the club wanted to get in.

He was also a very marmite character - I get how some people thought he was fantastic but as someone on her said a while ago, he was basically Pulis with banter.

Results and the future direction of the club meant he had to go sooner or later. Personally Im glad it was sooner.

What exactly didn't he deserve? Lets not make out he's a saint himself either. He was a dream for the media because of all the column inches he filled, but he was always in it for himself. It was always the Neil Warnock show. Lets not mention his political staging whilst on club time as well.
Exactly. He kept us up, and he got us through a difficult season that was played without crowds while re-shuffling the pack and trying to bring a new attitude throughout the club. He clearly enjoyed working for us, and despite his years on the clock and having to live a long way from home you could not have wanted a more committed guy doing the job and getting involved in the culture of the club. So for me he's always welcome - and I didn't think I'd say that when he was appointed.

But I don't buy the suggestions that he was some innocent honourable old fella badly done to either. He's always been ruthless (Morsy out the door at 10.30pm on Transfer Deadline Day), and he's great at PR where a cheeky quote disguises his agenda and expectation management. He may have just been outflanked by Scott and Bausor on this occasion.

And I would take his claims of not being supported with a massive pinch of salt, because while there are massive problems with the recruitment team and perhaps the backroom staff needs freshening up for the next stage, as far as I can see everyone has kept a united front behind the manager, while he's had the whole North East media to speak to twice a week before and after games. For every guy from leftfield such as Siliki who has been signed, he's been backed to bring in people like Grant Hall, Joe Lumley, Matt Crooks, Akpom, Peltier, and not been blocked from pushing players out of the door.

So I'm not having the woe is me spin.

I would even argue it was Warnock's comments on Sat night that brought forward all the announcements and interviews with Chris Wilder and Kieran Scott to Sunday. It certainly looks like a comms team looking to draw a line under the whole thing and stop Warnock from spinning his own yarn on all the usual Sunday football shows.

I must have missed Coburn scoring on debut last season then. Jones got on at Fulham cos we hadn't got the winger we needed in by the first day of the season - Warnock threw him on in that game where most other managers would have made a defensive change, and Jones went from strength to strength.

Another one blinded by the character.

I said who knows.... it might have affected NW performance in motivating the team ... a unhappy boss, under performing is a recipe for poor performances

Maybe if he had gone with a bit of dignity and showed respect for the club. Not now when he's just cone across as a bitter old man slagging the club off and blaming everyone but himself.
