9 Wins in 16 Needed.

You don’t need to look any further than recent results to understand this team and its management isn’t going to pull up any trees this season. We had some great results early on and it looked at that point that this side was ready to rock the league. However, we’ve been found out and players like McGree and Doak aren’t available so it’s going to be nip and tuck if we make the playoffs.

Our attacking intent also looks very much off from the early part of the season, where we could spread the ball a lot easier and bring other players into the game. Azaz looks to have fallen off a cliff in terms of his confidence which is probably where the problem lies.

Don’t want to be a spoilsport here but the OP is just guessing.
No one knows what we will need.

All (?) we need to do is be better than one team above us for the rest of the season and those below us.

All we can do is look at historic finishes. Normally a team will not finish in the playoffs with more than 12 defeats, and we have 10 already. There have been occasions when a team has been beaten 15 and finish top 6. That is not often though.

Boro must find a way to stop losing games they shouldn’t but it’s happened all season. We need to win 8 and draw 6 in my opinion. That should be good enough but I’m not convinced it’s going to happen. Just can’t see is suddenly stop conceding joke goals and dropping points because of it.

Playoff spots will be in the 90 to 70 range.. we will be at the lower end of that range.

a 70 team playing a 90 team of two legs will be a task and a half… chances are we’ll face another 90 team in the final too.

We’re gonna have to be a lower 70 team on paper.. punching up to a 90+ over three games at the end of the season.

I love threads like this:

1. Pick a fantasy points total that you think Boro will need to finish 6th
2. Berate Boro for having no chance

The truth is with the way this season is panning out that we have NO idea what the points total needed will be. If we beat teams around us we’ll need less. If the other sides have equal bad form we’ll need less.

The openly thing we know is one or two teams will put a run together out of nowhere. We just need to hope we are one of them. As it stands we are in a decent place to get 5th or 6th. Anyone below is would rather be in our position than theirs.

Could very well happen, I remember briefly thinking we were after the losses to Plymouth and Stoke last season.

Next week we were back in the play-off mix.
It was getting tight at that point last season, I think at one point we were only 6 points off the last relegation spot
