7 pt gap GD is 4

At least now we know exactly what the gap we are chasing is, as do shef u and they can’t keep bringing out this “get out jail card extra game” in press conferences anymore.

11 games left to over haul 7 pts and 4 goals

It’s that simple.

Hopefully starting on sat in South Wales.

That gap needs to be closed ASAP. Swansea won’t be easy but neither is Sheff Uniteds next five fixtures,
Home v Luton
Away v Sunderland
Away v Norwich
Home v Wigan
Away v Burnley
In between the Sunderland and Norwich fixtures is the matter of the FA Cup Quarter Final v Blackburn.
It will be hard for the Boro to catch up when’s it’s more points to catch up than games to play. UTB ⚽

Tough ask but not impossible, we including the player's need to believe.
Pressure is definitely on Sheff Utd.
Importantly I thought the GD would increase again,it didn't so a good thing
C'mon Boro

The focus on the Reading game was understandable but as others have said after the FA Cup they will be another game in hand for them. Ultimately though it doesn't matter when the games are played we just need to focus on doing our business and we'll end up where we deserve to at the end of the season.

The games in hand for Sheff Utd aren't necessarily relevant it's who the opposition is in key games. Them dropping points V Reading was hope more than expectation, it's their next three league games that all look like potential banana skins (as is our next game away at Swansea).

The goal diff is pretty much level if we are to get 7 extra pts if we win 2 and draw one and they lose 3 then our goal diff will easily catch up - other 8 games will matter though

I would swap their position in the league but would not swap teams or form, but they are still clear favourites at the moment but we still have a chance
I think this is it. They are preparing themselves to limp over the line. We aren't as we're bang in form. They will be counting down the games, desperate for them to finish and whereas we will be desperate for the next match. That anxiety will be in the stands, in the dressing room, on the bench and on the pitch.

I think it's done after last night. Needed them to lose that. I think they'll win 6 of their last 11, and draw at least a couple. That would mean we have to win 8 and draw three of our games, just to get level. (If Sheff Utd pick up an extra win or draw, it becomes even tougher).

Shame we started the season so poorly.

Even assuming we both win our next two games, it could be back down to 4 points with 9 games left for us and 10 for them next Saturday.

I wouldn't call that done, especially when that game in hand is against West Brom who will still likely be desperately chasing the play-offs.

They just lost their top scorer and goal creator to injury last night too.

They play a bang in form Luton on Saturday, and they've not played well in months, scraping past a god awful Reading.

If they lose to Luton, we could be 1 point behind before they play Sunderland. Anything less than a win in that game and we would have chance to go into 2nd while they play in cup. Could turn round really fast. Still a lot of life left in this yet. We just have to maintain our form.

Hadn't even thought of that.
We play on Tuesday, they play on Wednesday.

A slip up against Luton, even if only a draw, and a double Boro win would put huge amounts of psychological pressure on them.

They'd then know that we could overtake them if they even drew with Sunderland.

Last night showed two things for me. One, why it will be close. And two, why ultimately I think that sadly, Sheff Utd will have just enough to scrape over the line.

They maybe lack the free flowing football and attacking options of ourselves, but have a squad with a lot of experience and gritt, a defence that seems capable of grinding out clean sheets and as a club and a fan base have had a few promotions in the last few years with a lot of the squad intact.

I always think there should be a "fingers crossed" option on the 'like' button!
