5 subs in prem next season.

I'd quite happily stay in the Championship.

B******s to the Premier League.
Give over man. What is the point in that? Why bother celebrating any of our goals and being ecstatic when we win, if we don’t want to get promoted?
Most of our best moments as a club in the last 25 years have happened whilst we were a premier league club, and because we were a premier league club.
Its also an inconvenient truth for Boro fans who castigate the commercialisation and hype of the PL that we were trailblazers for many of the measures which have changed the ethos of the game at the top level.

We were trailblazers just because we happened to be in the 1st Premier League - did we actually initiate anything?

The Premier league of years gone by is not the same as it is now. The Top 6 just manipulate everything and engineer changes to suit them and to make them better/stronger.

Our last season in the premier league was dreadful, partly down to the manager's tactics, but even if he'd been more adventurous we'd have still gone down, the "average" premier league teams were still way better than us.

Everything about the Premier league now is geared to generating income and that means TV sales and that means Man City, Chelsea etc being better than everyone else. The Premier League consists of 3 mini leagues and its not hard to work out which one we'd be in if we went up.

I would rather see competitive games every week rather than getting hammered by teams with way better squads and managers who manipulate the game to their advantage.

Amongst the very first clubs to have a modern all seater stadium, to have a stadium sponsor, the very first club to have it's own tv channel, to pay massively inflated wages, to sign big names for the sake of signing big names, to fully and completely embrace the hype and the madness...and it was the most successful period in hour history.
You might prefer mid table championship obscurity forever, personally I'd prefer us to try and get the good times back again.

Not in 92 which is when I was referring to - we didn't do any of those things then.

Never said anything about mid table mediocrity either - I said "I would rather see competitive games every week" meaning we'd be nearer pay offs than mid table - I could have made that clearer I guess.

You want the Premier League, fine, no problem, all entitled to an opinion. Me I couldn't bare watching us get beat every week and having to put up with klopp etc. Look at Norwich, would you really say that's enjoyable?

Card cheat wgere has DCI say hes happy with mid table championship security?

BTW I agree with DCI 100%

5 subs and var will make it a long tedious watch. 3 subs was ample we have seen in friendly matches how more subs make the game farcical. I agree with what's been said the premier League have moulded the rules for the elite. going up this time we know it's a League we can't do anything other than try and survive in. forget uefa cup runs and big money signings those days are long gone.

I would be happy using Norwichs midel than struggling to survive season on season

I admire Burnley & Dyche so much, more than anyvof the top 6 teams, every year battled to avoid the drop successfully, but in the great scheme of things is it enjoyable really, I think not

Burnley have got in Europe in the last few years and they've spent next to nothing compared to other clubs.
They did ***** when they got there, but that's their own fault, they were playing much poorer teams.

Sheffield United were in with a great chance of a European spot before Covid stopped the season and their momentum was halted.

It can still happen.

Okay....so let me get this right. You want us to challenge for promotion but want us to fail everytime? Jesus wept.

Also it doesn't really matter when we dived in with both feet to wholeheartedly join the hype of the premier league, we did it with the glee of a fat kid locked in a sweet shop, we are not as a club or a fanbase in a position to take the moral high ground. Nor should we.

The other thing is (and I know I'm going on now), the premier league in my opinion is a brilliant league. More entertaining, more competitive and more unpredictable than any of the other top leagues.

I want us to be competitive and enjoy watching matches and not getting hammered every week. I never said anything about wanting to challenge for promotion - you really should read posts properly before you reply to them.

I hate the Premier League. It's all about hypocrisy, greed and the big 6 getting all the money, getting everything their own way. The change to the subs rule a case in point.

You love it - fair enough, I hope you're happy together but not everyone thinks like you, I'm glad you enjoy watching it but that doesn't mean we all think that way.
