You’d be silly to write us off with these 2 at the crease. Just feels like NZ are making the ball talk and creating chances.
It looked flat as anything yesterday - possibly a compliment to Williamson (although for me he was out stumped in the first session) and Blundells innings. Also tiring bowlers on our side.
Whether I stay up for the next session all hinges on the next hour!

With this advice, his innings at Headingley in 2019 probably wouldn’t have ever happened!
Roots going good guns. Stokes just needs to stick in here. The longer he stays there with Root, the closer we get, the pressure goes back on NZ.

He’s an odd one Pope. When he’s on his game he looks very classy and fluent. When he’s not, he’s like a Rabbit in Headlights.

Agree re Pope. He looked out of his depth. Classy from Root, especially considering what happened earlier.

We are extremely lucky to have Root.
Pope isn’t really a number 3 by trade and at times it shows. He can be very damaging at 3 when he’s playing well. Not sure he has the basic technique / judgement to grind things out when he’s not playing well and under the cosh. Hopefully some of that improves over time as he’s brilliant to watch when on song.
The Ashes will be a tough examination. I do worry a little about the prospect of our top 3 vs. The Aussie attack. We may end up leaning heavily on the usual suspects.

As was pointed out earlier only Australia have lost a Test Match after enforcing a follow on. This is tense now. Stokes playing an unfamiliar role. 20 off 75 balls so far. Root is the key wicket to get.

England are having a complete brain fade here against Wagner. It is so obvious Wag is bowling short to encourage the error and its working.

I really can't fathom why Root would do that at this time. Completely unnecessary. Bizarre. Complete c0ck up. Wow. Test cricket. There's nothing better. Just had a look on SkyBet they still have us favourites. God knows why. Its NZ to win now surely???
