2021 Holidays

A trip to a holiday park in Norfolk over May bank Holiday weekend with lots of friends, about 15 other families that was postponed from last may and re-booked for this year.

Waiting to see how things pan out before booking a summer holiday. Only good thing to come out of not going away properly last year was that the money we would have spent paid for a bathroom refit.

Fancying the North Coast 500 around the tip of Scotland in the motorhome. Would love to spend a month doing it. Let's see what Covid has to say about it...
I’m meant to be in Oban in late March fishing for Skate with my mates, I’d be more confident of getting abroad tbh. I finish work on the 8th of Feb and don’t go back until Good Friday so would be nice to do something rather than just stare at the walls.

We did quite a few UK Airbnb’s last year. Wouldn’t book an abroad trip till the last minute. So much can quickly change.

Issue with going abroad is how far other countries have got with vaccines and no guarantee the U.K. will have delivered the rate promised, which given the failures over the last 9 months is virtually certain to occur.

As we’ve already started the warnings we face lockdowns next winter as well looks like next year before a trip abroad tbh.

We have a med holiday rolled over from last year to July this year. I'm about 20% confident it may go ahead. If it doesn't we'll just get money back and hang fire until 2022.

Am hoping things get better at some point this year. My kids birthdays are June and Nov and we always take a trip somewhere fun on one of them, Alton Towers weekend or suchlike.

If we're able to this year, then I reckon i think we'll try and take them to Disneyland Paris for a few days as they absolutely love theme parks and the big rides. I think if we aim for later in the year, maybe when the Christmas parades start we might be ok. probably won't even try to book anything until Summer though depending on how vaccination etc goes.

Where is the evidence and science behind lockdowns next winter? It’s impossible to predict. If it does happen it just shows you can’t lock down your way out of this and the vaccines don’t actually work so it will have to run it’s course.

Anyone booked to go away or wishing to this year?

Think we are going to give abroad a miss this year again, shame as the not so young one is (hopefully) off to uni in the autumn so were planning somewhere exciting.

Prices for U.K. breaks seem very high compared to previous years though so guess a lot of people are doing the same, or at least hedging their bets by booking somewhere just in case.

I think we'd be safer abroad than here, so as soon as we can we'll be going for it.

No need to book up early either, just see what's available when the time comes.

Was on the press conference earlier this week.

By the way youve contradicted yourself at least twice.

I'm not optimistic about the possibilities of holidays. I think it's another year of keeping your head down and getting through it.

Absolutely on our bucket list. We were about a week away from purchasing a motorhome in July and then I got made redundant so had to pull the plug. Now I'm gainfully employed again it's back on the cards and that will be one of our first trips once its possible to do so. Prob do a couple of shorter trips first to get accustomed to the vehicle, one to RHB and one to the lakes, but once we've done those, the 500 is right up there

Yeah we did short trips around Northumberland to begin with too. It's a steep learning curve but if you stay in proper sites on your first few, you'll find they're all really helpful with teething problems. Crossing everything for the Summer and might see you on the road north!

👍we've hired one for a week 3 times now so we're getting to grips with the whole MH thing and have really enjoyed those experiences. We just have to find the van that suits us best, which we think we have, hence almost pulling the trigger. We've camped for years in tents but having tried it once, the luxury of a bog and shower lends us to seeing this as our way forward for UK hols. We'll still go 'home' to the US and part of mrs fufkin's dream is Europe trips, but I reckon a MH will be a very enjoyable experience for us and there's no point gathering small interest, I'd rather use savings to live a little and enjoy life while we're young (enough!), financially able and fit enough to do so. No point being the wealthiest fella in the graveyard. We dont live an extravagant life, so a little luxury is allowed I reckon

Spot on advice. Life is about experiences, so get yourself out there.

The main reason I work is to fund short breaks and holidays/trips away (and to pay the mortgage to be fair, but mainly the holidays!).

NC500 is great but one of the best things is staying in the hotels and b&bs along the way.

Fully get that and I think there's a few places we would enjoy staying for more than just one night, so would definitely look at b&b's for a bit of extra comfort along the way
