1930s Germany has arrived in the UK

Silencing one man who is a bit annoying is one thing but this new law will be used more than once. Nazi Germany didn't manifest itself overnight, it was - in the way these things always happen - a gradual process, and we are moving in that direction. Most Germans probably didn't notice the shift until it was too late.

It's funny how this questioning of mainstream newspapers and TV is now apparently fine when it's politically motivated but if they were questioned during the height of the pandemic those questioning what they were hearing and reading in the news were automatically deemed conspiracy theorists by the same people questioning mainstream media now.

So are all mainstream media outlets to be trusted now or only the ones who align with our own train of thoughts?

You’re putting words in my mouth. I agreed with Jedi that the way the government is acting is worrying and dangerous. I don’t believe the contemporary public will ever allow fascism to take over. There may be a lot of misinformation out there but technological advances mean that the scale of brainwashing that took place in Germany will not be replicated, hence the hyperbole comment.

Technological advances will probably assist in mass brain washing, social media does it very well already!

I'm sorry if you think I was putting words in your mouth I didn't intend for it to come across as such. I was simply looking to highlight a few things that should worry any reasonable minded person hence why, IMHO, the thread title isn't hyperbole.

From what you're saying though I think we're on the same side because this is undoubtedly a very dangerous time in the UK and how the next few weeks and months go may well be critical one way or another as to how we are as a state for the next generation.

I respectfully disagree. Global connectivity and integration means you’d need to brainwash a large percentage of the world for fascism to take hold.

We’re absolutely on the same side. I’m extremely concerned about erosion of rights but I don’t think we’re (really it’s you because I don’t reside in the U.K. but my family do etc.) on the path to the state of fascist Nazi Germany.

We live in a time of mass social media and we have history to learn from, it will not get to that. Well, actually, I suppose everyone was convinced to lock down and did it without question so......
