šŸ™Cut your energy bills nearly in half with Octopus Tracker

We are all getting reamed. It's a matter of a) acknowledging it b) being angry about it.
Ok but you can do both those things whilst still trying to reduce your outgoings. Some people are really struggling so making a switch that saves money could be vital.

I see what you are saying but I donā€™t know why you would ridicule people for trying to cut their costs in the current climate. And if you are on a cheaper tariff than the alternative Iā€™d saying you are saving.

I donā€™t think acknowledging, being angry and doing nothing will change anything either.

I'm not ridiculing anything. I am trying to point out the pointlessness of it in the face of a rapacious energy cartel/monopoly, aided and abetted by the government, that will just keep bleeding the country white until it is stopped.

As for doing nothing, I hope my vote will empower a political party that will do the stopping.

You have ridiculed if you look at your posts but fair doā€™s.

I think most people on this thread will be voting in a similar fashion. Letā€™s just hope enough follow suit.

Or c) keeping as much money in my pocket as possible. Keep on paying that 30% premium though šŸ‘ŒšŸ»

You keep doing this thing where you belittle the amount. 30% of the price cap is not "a few pennies"

You did the same thing with checking the prices, made out that people are spending ages every day checking prices etc. Totally bizarre.

I was with EDF in January, used Ā£310 of energy, thanks to this thread switched to OctopusTracker on 2nd February and looking like Ā£180 for February, short month so say Ā£200 as a direct comparison.
Cracking saving,Fragrance guy has helped so many people with his advice, I for one can't thank him enough

Yeah we have saved a lot, I was a bit wary of it at first but it's been good so far. I'd expect pricess to remain low at least over spring and summer and then see what happens. Less savings then as less gas use but still some for hot water etc

The other good news is (for us, anyway) that savings will rocket come April once the price cap goes up by Ā£500 unless the government backpedals. Wholesale prices should remain low and as we aren't paying retail prices, we shouldn't be impacted by it - just the amount of discount protection is less.

Just been on the radio price cap coming down Ā£1000

Yes the price cap is coming down Ā£1000, but the price cap is what it costs the government as the epg limits you currently to paying Ā£2500. Price cap is Ā£4279 and dropping to Ā£3280, but the government is reducing the generosity of the EPG to Ā£3000 in April. I used wrong terminology in my post above - should have been EPG not price cap

This means that people on EPG will be paying Ā£3000/ year instead of Ā£2500 a year so will be Ā£500 worse off

Additionally, the Ā£66 a month payments end in march so reality is EPG customers will pay Ā£1100 more than what they've effectively been paying as won't have that Ā£600 extra as well. So it goes up by Ā£500 in cost and you get Ā£600 less support - lot of insulation from costs there!

Has anybody who is already a customer managed to speak to octopus and get on the tracker without waiting the 6 month?
I switched to Octopus on Feb 1st. It was completed by Feb 3rd and switched to the tracker on Feb 6th by ringing them and talking to them.

I think it was around the 14th they started telling people about the wait list but nothing wrong with asking about it if that's the reason you switched - some seem to have gotten away with it

Messaged them on twitter stating I'd already been in touch on the 4th but not heard anything since, there not budging and won't let me on the tracker
