🐙Cut your energy bills nearly in half with Octopus Tracker

An indicative price from them is 170 a month, 20 quid more than what I pay now. I'm guessing the tracker, once enrolled would offer considerable savings from that point?

Yeah massively

You need to completely ignore the quote you get as they're quoting you for standard. Same with dd amount as you can change that later. The £20 a month will Be margin of error as imagine you're on a price cap deal? In which case unit rates will be near identical unless you're on a pricier fix. If you are on a fix check exit fees - you don't pay them if 90 days or less from end of your deal

Do you know your annual usage in kWh per fuel? If so you can work out roughly what you would pay on tracker. Once you join get into them the same day your account with them goes live - they will tell you what that date is and keep you updated etc

But as a standard guide I'd assume 30% less than what you pay now

If you didn't already do it, google octopus mini request form and ask for one of them, takes a bit but gives you live usage info in octo aid and octopus app for electricity
Will do. The only problem with getting daily prices is when you can't use it. Was away last week on holiday and got the notification that electric was 13p. Felt like I was missing out even though I wasn't using any at home obviously :D :D

When it's 13p I plug my car in even if it doesn't really need charging 😂

You could always get some smart plugs so you could turn them on remotely and feel like you're getting some use out of it 😂

Looks like prices have started trending up since the spike in gas prices.. soon it will be at the cap rate.
Not much to worry about atm they were higher in June @5.1p, it's only gone up 0.4p since Saturday after 3 days at 4.4p and last wed was 4.6p before dropping to 4.3p

I mean gas and electric (remember gas provides 50% of our electricity)
It's about 30%-35% i believe so a good chunk.

Yeah, it will probably go up some but remember octopus is based on wholesale but in a roundabout way so is the price cap, CI already forecast price cap to go up in Jan as a result of this.

Hopefully the strikes get called off but it's rare we catch a break in this country.

Oh 100% just sad that my electric will have a 2 as the first number tomorrow.

In the grander scheme it shows we are absolutely ****ed

I have just got my Smart Meters fitted and was going to ask to go on the tracker. Do you think it is worth waiting for a few weeks to see if the prices go up a lot? I appreciate you wont know exactly but just based on experience.
I also read on a FB Octopus Tracker chat that it may be wise to wait until spring as the prices will go up above the tracker price?
Any advice based on usage of the past year please?

It's impossible to say, honestly. If tracker goes up so will price cap in Oct and Jan. right now even with tomorrows prices it's still about 8p a unit cheaper on elec and just under 3p a unit on gas.

Last year process went high for a period but it was peak Ukraine issues at the time and over the entirety of winter I believe it only went above price cap on 3 days

It could skyrocket, but it could also end up being cheaper and you sit there and miss out.

My hope for the winter months is for it to hover around the price cap (likely slightly below it).

All bets are off if we get a savagely cold winter mind.

I can see demand going lower as the recession really starts to get going, people will be unable to afford to use it and businesses will be shuttering cratering demand further.

Even if it goes above it for part of winter I'll still probably stick with it because it responds so much quicker to stabilising prices that I wouldn't want 9 months of price cap

Still well worth it,hold your nerve and see what happens ,those on it for months have saved a small fortune.
