I have asked them for a smart meter on Twitter and the reply was

"Do you mean the display or an actual smart meter? We have a smart meter listed on the account so think you mean display"

So it sounds like you already have a smart meter

Tbh I wouldn't bother with a display, it'll be wrong. The unit usage will be right but the Ā£ value wrong, you can get that from the app each day though.
 
Yeah, got totally confused with a smart meter and the display thing. Requested a smart meter from Octopus so now they think I don't have one šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø
They'll know what you have, but everyone calls the in home led display a smart meter for some reason so they will just be checking to make sure you know what you're asking for šŸ˜‚
 
Are you live with octopus already? They won't be able to connect to you if not. Once you are it may take a few days for them to successfully connect but hit them up ok Twitter if you are live and have a smart meter
I went live today and sent my meter readings. I asked to be on the tracker and they sent me the link. I have messaged them on Twitter which was when I got the response regarding the smart meter or display. Do you think it's because I have requested on that they don't think I have one?
I messaged them a couple of hours ago but got no response.

Yeah I'd just go back to them with that screen shot and say you're trying to register and it says that
 
Quick question for those that have looked in to this as my daughter is with Octopus. Is the tracker better than taking the one year fixed tariff they now offer which is 6% below the cap. Feels like the tracker has its risks if prices rise so pros and cons to it. I was thinking she could guarantee her rate for 12 months and then consider tracker

The tracker hasn't been more expensive than the price cap since December and even then by a few pence on like 3 days. It's each person's decision but fixing for 12 months at current rate seems fairly poor value as you're essentially paying 25%-35% premium if only saving 6%. Tracker will be a bit more expensive in winter than it is now I am sure but with wholesale costs forecast to trend down slowly over next few years, it isn't appealing to me and you can come off the tracker with a few days notice.

I'm still waiting to be moved from Flexible to Tracker, having requested 2 weeks ago.

Did they come back to you?

They usually backdate it to when you requested it but my brother joined at the weekend and they moved him straight over, so I'd follow up even if it was via twitter

Via both email and Twitter. Each time they just directed me to request on the website.
