I hate the October shuffle of managers, but if things do get worse and Carrick goes I dread to think of the type of manager who would take this job.
It would be classic Gibson to turn to an experienced firefighter like Pulis or Warnock, which would be the worst possible fit for this project.
We’re cost-cutting, and equally have just signed a whole squad of new young players to develop. A Warnock type would keep us up but they always want their own players who are wily experienced types. So we’d be tearing it up yet again and filling the squad with Sol Bambas and Yannick Bolasies.
At the same time, it’s not a job for an inexperienced manager because the players are so inexperienced and if we do change manager, it will be because we’re in a relegation fight.
It’s not an attractive job at all. We have no money, what looks like a poor squad, you can’t sign loads of players because we just did, you’re working under a (****) DoF with a very patchy record and we’re bottom of the league. Not sure who would take it.
