£500 a month energy bills predicted in January - is this breaking point?

My monthly gas/leccy has recently gone up from 68 to 82 a month which is manageable. not ideal either as it's just me and my daughter but i do worry what it might eventually go up to - obviously with winter to come etc. fuel prices are what's doing me, paying minimum 220 a month now just for work commute. worrying times.

Lucky you -mine has gone up 100 pounds and is about to go up further in October!

I'm dreading winter. Everytime I come home from work and open the door it's like stepping off a plane that's landed in Ibiza 😂

I'm going to have to bin the missues as I can't afford to keep the flat warm enough for her. Oh she also works... We will need second jobs to maintain the constant 30c. I'm buying her a hoody in October.

Jokes aside. I don't see how anyone can keep up with these price increases. Its simply not sustainable with the price of fuel and mortgages etc going up. We've always been 'comfortable' as with have 2 wages. Yet even we've been massively cutting back. I simply don't see how many will cope.

My gas and electric has gone from £142 a month to £315 on the new fix. Having to find extra circa £200 for absolute no difference in service is always going to be infuriating but made a hundred times worse when my provider Centrica announced £1.4 billion profit for just 6 months and five times that for the same period last year. 😡

I pay £150 a month with BG. They insist I need to double the payments. I've said no way, I'll deal with the excess at the end. I have to be able to provide for my family and having all my money going on energy is not helpful BG want to frontload all the risk onto me, I pushed back and we have a happy(ish) medium.

Same with me Baron

End of deal deficit would be about 560 and they are pushing for me to up my DD.

**** that I`ll settle like yourself at the end.

Can honestly see me and the missus huddle round the log burner wrapped in a duvet come Dec/Jan

Same here regarding the blanket. I have to factor in my 6 year old. If my wife and I have to go without for her sake, so be it.

I did a 5 Yr fix with Shell. It still has a year and 3 months to run. God knows what I will have to pay when it ends. I'm hoping things will have changed for the better by then

Here’s a thought. Why don’t the government offer big subsidies on enabling household to get solar panels fitted? Provide interest free loans, allow excess electricity to be sold to the National Grid. This in its simplistic form needs to be added to. Would I go for such a scheme? If the price was right without a doubt.

That would certainly cause an overwhelming number of people to be unable to afford their fuel bills.

It would mean they will have to steal food in order to allow them to pay to heat their homes. How will understaffed police forces respond to this? Fair chance of civil disobedience on a grand scale I would have thought.
I hope there is civil unrest - it’s time people stood up for their rights and stopped being trampled on by the greedy elites. Vive la révolution ✊

I won't be paying £500 to my utility company in January that's for sure. It's £145 per month now, £175 in October.

They can ask for more, that's fine. They won't get it though.
They will, they'll eventually just get a warrant and force fit a prepayment meter if you are consistently in debt and not making arrangements to pay, then you have to add credit to use it and it will garnish the credit you add to device the debt automatically.
