F*CK VAR

I would rather accept these decisions than have VAR in its current state.

Obviously that one is clearly off side and no lines are required so it's one that should be over ruled but if they can't do it quicker than what they are now, I'd rather just live with it.

Or if Dieng hadn’t made another stupid mistake. The defence is to blame tonight. We conceded four and it could and probably should’ve been more. Focusing on the linesman is focusing in the wrong place imo.

The defence was to blame for Coventry getting knocked out on penalties yesterday, focusing on VAR getting an offside goal right is focusing in the wrong place.

We conceded 2 legitimate goals, one was a mile offside and BBC Tees are adamant that there was an offside in the build up to the penalty, so that would possibly have been ruled out too.

VAR was brought in for exactly that type of blatantly incorrect offside decision.
Indeed - the key word there being blatantly. Coventry’s yesterday was not blatantly offside and not evident in real time.

I’ll happily stick with that going against us rather than have VAR though

I called it offside in realtime and it was offside, if you are saying it was hard to see live that it was offside then that just sounds like a good reason for video aided referee technology

Who cares, just get on the with game and stop moaning about VAR. 🤷🏻‍♂️
The thread was about how stupid it is, how badly it’s been implemented, how it detracts from the experience of match-going supporters. Loads of people hate it. It’s there because loads of people can’t accept a decision going against their team and those of us who hate it now have to suffer it while blokes measure freeze frames and lines with rulers and a stylus.

Some of us just want to see the football and can accept a person making a mistake. Some of us don’t want VAR. Some of us most definitely do not want more of it. But I’m absolutely certain that within the next year or two you’ll have your wish and the Championship and both cup competitions will have to suffer it too.

In your opinion. I don't agree with it.
This thread is full of examples of where VAR hasn’t worked and has created mote controversy and issues than its solved. And yet people demand more of it. We’ll have it in the Championship soon enough and it’ll be absolutely horrible. Those advocating for it in our league moan about the three officials we currently have making mistakes seem to think an extra two doing the same game remotely will make it better. It just won’t. You will still get mistakes and, if you’re so inclined, will still seethe over perceived injustices. It never ends. It’s an absolute mess in the Premier League. Imagine how bad it’d be in the division below. God help us.

VAR is just another step in the never ending cycle of things people will complain about in a football game.

VAR exist because of it, it's now part of the game. Tens of thousands of Boro fans would have cheered the house down if we had VAR disallow Leeds 3rd goal, together with another 100 thousand or so Ipswich and Leicester fans.

Millions cheer it every week, each and everyone of those experiences as valid as anything that ever happened pre-VAR.
