Referees often consult the linesman in such scenarios.Good job there wasn't a foul just inside the box, couldn't possibly give a penalty if that's the case

She’s got no chance of knowing for sure from there. 30 yards away and behind the ball. Not looking down the line. She’s be guessing to give it so played on.
She was really poor, gave some very questionable decisions both ways, and booked plenty when there was probably only one bookable challenge in the game (Aylings).
Not that the standard of male officiating has been much better this season. It's not a question of gender, it's a question of capability, and she was poor.
Such a ridiculous response. If it was a male referee everyone would be saying what a silly decision. Because it's a female, the narrative becomes that you can't criticise the decision.
She has direct line of site, the ball is on the line, and the keeper is still miles away from it. If she is deferring to the lino, in that scenario, she is gonna struggleShe’s got no chance of knowing for sure from there. 30 yards away and behind the ball. Not looking down the line. Careful, that doesn't fit that narrative! You'll get called a rather unflattering male appendage!
You can criticise and debate the decision, no one is stopping you. It was an incorrect decision but she can’t make it for sure from where she is, she can’t clearly see the curvature of the ball over the line. You need to be able to see down the line to make line calls not 30 yards and at a 90 degree angle.Such a ridiculous response. If it was a male referee everyone would be saying what a silly decision. I will happily debate footy all day long on here, why people resort to insults is beyond me. Probably because the are defending the indefensible
This incident happened just in front of me. The ball was a good 12 inches over the line. The lines man was at 5 yards behind the play. By the time he had reached the corner flag the keeper had dragged it back into play.. Refs view was probably obscured by the keeper and other players. She can't see the line from 30 yards away.
The official who's actually meant to judge these things said it wasn't out.
Ball is clearly still in play in this shot, what do you think it proves? After this the keeper lunges across and with his right hand pulls the ball to his chest. Short of X-ray vision the ref cannot possibly see the ball over the line. The big giveaway is the body language and behaviour of the Swans players who drift towards the goal before realising that the keeper has got away with it and move up the field.View attachment 74858
Doesn't look it, but as said above harder to see square on than across the line, and if she wasn't sure she couldn't give it.
