Who's your favourite TV detective?

I'm showing my age but it has to be Colombo for me. Quite a character.

I always enjoyed Rebus. Liked how he would always get a pint with a whisky chaser like a true Scot.

I love the early Columbo series. Kojak is great and think its on ITV4 atm. On Talking pictures TV there is Public Eye with Alfred Burke which sort of reminds me of life when I was a kid.

I used to watch a few of those with my mam, just picture her reaching into the magazine rack then flicking through the Gazette TV page and asking me to turn it over on our state of the art 22" Granada rented oak-veneered case TV.
What a chore turning the TV over was, worse than trying to find a remote

I had a soft spot for morally ambiguous detective Norman Buntz out of Hill St. Blues. He actually got his own spin-off Beverly Hills Buntz, which I vaguely remember liking at the time but it was a ratings flop, and not every show recorded was even aired.

'This is Jim Rockford.......' Tranmere used to run out to the Rockford Files theme tune!
