* The Unofficial “Official” Chelsea v Boro - Carabao Cup SF [2nd leg] Match-Night Thread *

Don't like the look of Palmer talking to Rogers behind his hand. Telling him to get that PL move no matter what.

I’m disgusted tonight.

Not by the players, the performance or Carrick.

But by some of the clueless chunts on this thread.

We’re decimated by injuries, we’re knackered from so many games with such a small squad, we’re playing a team with resources we could only dream of in a major semi and we won the first leg.

It’s caught up with us tonight but I’m proud of the lads. They can hold their heads high as far as I am concerned.
You just accept failure
Neville has done my head in but his analysis has been spot on, Carrick has to learn to adapt his style, I love the football we play but sometimes tactics have to change to suite the opposition as some of our playing staff are not quite good enough at the very top level.

I know we are hammered by injuries but the tactical tweaks / issues have been the same all season in the championship too.

Hopefully we learn a lot from this experience and punishment and take some Intesity into the final few months of the season and give it a good go.

Nor the manager or some of our wanted players are quite ready for the top just yet!

We have been outclassed, and there's no shame on that, but I also think we didn't have the belief or confidence to make a real game of it.

We've looked nervous and shaky across the whole pitch. The only one if say didn't look out of place was Rogers, let's hope that's not his last game because he's going to get better and better.
We did look nervous and in a large part the architects of our own downfall. I don't blame howson for the first. He had to challenge. An early goal changed the dynamic massively.

We needed Chelsea to have an of night, they didn't. We had to be out very best, we weren't.

Such an anti climax - they never really cut us open. We gifted them a good 4 or more goals.

I think the lack of pace up front killer us. We couldn't go long - nor did we have someone to hold the ball up.

As bad as I feared it could be. The first leg they could have easily scored 4 or 5 but didn’t. They took their chances and we helped them by being really sloppy and defending poorly.

Lack of pace was always a concern and it was brutally shown up tonight.

Fair play to the fans that went, superb support.

Would have struggled mightily even with a full squad, gulf in class is massive. Dread to think what Liverpool would have done to us.

Needed to get to half an hour or so goal less and then they might have become frustrated. Early goal gave them the impetus. Shame Dijksteel wasn’t considered up to start and Coburn not fit, might have made us more competitive. However nine times out of ten they stuff us!
