I think both the Euros and World Cup were favourable draws, and we generally lost once we faced a good side (with the exception of Germany, who weren't at their best).
But I'll give him his due. He had an approach to both tournaments- conservative, keep the ball, try not to concede, generally score from set pieces. For the most part it worked and he has to receive praise for that.
But he also has to receive criticism for it when it doesn't work and he shows his inflexibility to change the system.
