1983-84 Currie 15 goals in 35 startsI don’t think the current lot are anywhere near as bad as Paul Sugrue, David Currie and Gary MacDonald. What were their records? Who else did they play for? The went to Darlo or non league in short order after us, didn’t they?
Let’s ask a different question. How would the current lot get on with Heine Otto playing behind them?
Alan Willey certainly wasn't. Worst striker I've ever seen for us. He'd fit in perfect with the current lotBilly Woof was really good!
When your creativity comes exclusively from two very young and inexperienced wing backs who wouldn't even have been in consideration but for injuries then your squad isn't good enough.
Our strikers don't create enough problems for the opposition. In the absence of consistent service they've been found lacking in ability to make things happen for themselves.

1984-85 Currie 11 goals in 35 starts
Clough bought Currie for Forest, who also played for Barnsley, that sort of answers your question I think
It's all opinions Lefty, someone quoted Willey as the worst striker he'd seen, IMHO I woukd disagree, I thought Alan Willey was OK, certainly far from the worstI was going to say fair enough, but then I curious about his record at Forest, 8 appearances, 1 goal, joined in January, shipped out in August. So if your argument is based on Cloughies judgement ...?
anyway, Currie was ok, certainly nowhere near the worst we’ve had, but the question was about the two strike forces as a whole.

Remember him scoring 2 v Sunderland in the pouring rain
Is Gestede actually any better than Currie, or Alan Willey,
The worst striker I have seen wear a Boro shirt (and there have been many terrible ones) was Caleb Folan. Thankfully he only played the once as a sub in the WBA 0-5 hammering. Dear me he was awful. Marcus Bent was awful too.
