No good having enough possession to win theee games, if you can’t create a single chance with it. Frustrating half.

Very poor, too slow and ponderous with the ball.

Reading closing down the space and we have not been good , or brave, enough to find a way around it.

Mowatt off, McGree into midfield and another forward player on.
 
Surprised nobody has sussed the fact then when you have a more attacking minded manager , you will inevitably concede more goals . Despite the possession , we will be countered.

All our fans moan about how we don’t have a go at teams. They moaned when we had pulis , karanka , mclaren , Warnock etc that we’re too defensive minded . If you look throughout our history , our most successful periods were when we had defensive minded managers .

We’re not big or rich enough to go out and dominate teams and win like city or Liverpool.

Defensive managers
Karanka ….. promoted
McLaren …… a cup and strong stints in the premier league
Pulis ……. Actually got us a playoff position

More Attack minded managers
Monk …….**** all
Robson …… cup finals but ultimately a relegation and nothing won
Wilder ……. Most likely **** all too
Woodgate …… we’ll utter **** and should never have been given a chance . Didn’t realise pleasing the fans by attacking more would cause us conceding **** loads of goals
 
We look lacking in confidence now; slow, ponderous and indecisive.

Fry of for Crooks for 2nd half, Paddy at centre half.

Mowatt off for Hoppe, McGree in midfield if nothing changes in first 15 would be Mt guess of the changes.

To be fair rheyve not created a thing really and a very, very lucky to be going in ahead.
 
Gotta get Crooks on at half time, McNair doesn't give us anywhere near enough on the ball in midfield.

Kept the ball well again and at least this time we look solid enough but for a worldie, just haven't put enough pressure on their goal yet.
 
The problem is that there are a lot of teams in this division who will play this way against us. We need to find a way to break them down or we have no chance of going up. Pretty, passing football is very nice to watch but winning games against teams like Reading is what we need to learn

Also anyone who wants shot of Watmore because he 'can't finish'. Give themselves a head shake. A far poorer side without him.

Wilderball is football on railway tracks there's no variation in tactics every team in this division knows how we are going to play and that has to be to our disadvantage. the reading commentators are laughing at us we are so bad.
 
The issue, for me is that we ae not taking any chances in possession. Reading are keeping their shape because we are allowing them to.

You beat a packed defence by either, beating a man and focing another player out of position, creating some space. Or, quick passing that the defenders can't follow easily.

We are just playing it really safe today. Take a risk, play a pass to someone who is marked and trust them to move it on quickly. At 0-0 when you are controlling the game, you tend to think the chance will come. At 1-0 down you have to start forcing things a bit.
 
We’re being blitzed in midfield and there is absolutely nothing up front - no one to hold the ball up. Need some presence up front urgently - Riis or Larsen ?
 
It’s like watching Swansea. Keep the ball but do nowt with it.
