Steve Bray, love him or hate him, has been treat absymally by the Met Police today implementing the new protest rules. They've taken his PA system and effectively removed his right to voice his opinion.

The track we're on as a country is a very dangerous one with the removal of our freedoms and the erosion of democracy. The forced quietening of dissenting voices is a dangrous place to be headed and make no mistake this is just the beginning.
 
Shouting people down is not democracy though either I’m all for free speech but using a PA through interviews etc is not really on either.

1930s Germany hardly.

There’s a lot of very worrying thing this regime is doing to impede freedoms but this isn’t one of em.

Nazi Germany didn't start with the Holocaust.

It began a few years earlier with thing's like the above

But what’s democratic about shouting people down drowning them out.

That’s was fascism is.

As I say I’m no lover of a thing this cabal do but shouting people down is wrong.

The new law came into effect today.
Look what power that gives the state to do to dissenters>>>>>>
Freedom isnt the gift of a benevolent state - it is fought for and won, and we need to continue to fight to keep it.

I agree with this. If you act like Bray then people dismiss the police actions are reasonable without understanding the underlying context. “Idiot with loudspeaker is silenced” kind of thing is easy for the Conservative media to push.

I’d also agree that the title of this thread is a touch hyperbolic.

I am totally with people worrying about this regime but he hasn’t helped with his actions.

I rather disgree - look at the way the mainstream media behave; most people read right-wing newspapers in the UK and look at the likes of Paul Dacre being put forward for a place in the Lords.

Look at the way the government are trying to sell of Channel 4, one of the few media outlets in the UK who still seriously question the government. Likewise, the BBC has been put in its place with the removal of the licecnce fee etc.

Look at what happened with the Sarah Everard protests which were a disgraceful epsiode by any standards.

See what is happening with the disgusting Rwanda policy.

We clearly aren't at full on Nazi government yet of course but if you can't see the clear lurch towards it then you're not really looking.

If you don't think we are heading down the same path as Germany in the 1930's, you aren't paying attention.
