Where will Connolly end up?

If he was available on a free I wouldn't want him. I haven't seen a single quality in him that makes me thinks he will develop in to a good player. I'm sure he'll find his level but I doubt it will be championship or above.

I would rather have kept things as they were in January in the top half of the pitch. Hernandez, Uche, Watmore, Sporar and Coburn. I would have used the wages/loan fee for Balogun and Connolly and focused on getting a proper goalkeeper.

If Wilder is honest I'm sure he would've expected a lot more from Connolly and Balogun (especially Balogun). Connolly's poor performances have nothing to do with height. You don't have to be 6ft plus to be a decent centre forward, as countless strikers have proved over the years. He's just an average player and I haven't seen anything to suggest that he will become anything more than that. I reckon he will fade away into the lower leagues over the next few years.
In fairness I think looking back it was a mistake to break up the Sporar/Watmore partnership. Sporar was just beginning to find a bit of form before the new boys came in and had become a bit of a cult figure amongst supporters.

He should have kept Sporar and Watmore as his first choice front two, kept Hernandez and then brought in another striker for backup.

Don't know why people are scalding a lad on loan trying his best. He's had some good games and some not so good. I hope wherever he goes next he does really well. Too much hate for the lad on this forum and it's out of order. Ross County ffs.

Noticed he was in the news (well if you can call it that) this morning about an apparent argument that led to police visiting his house last weekend.

Connolly has a lot of good points, but sadly I think his size holds him back. It’s unfair to play him through the middle. Back to goal hold up play is nearly impossible when a foot smaller than your opponent.

He should play wide in a three. Which is what we should have switched to when Fry went off with Coburn the focal point
He’s too slow for that he has zero pace

Obviously Chris Wilder and the scouting Department don’t know what they are doing. They should have asked the posters on FMTTM!

You'd want to sign a striker who has one heavily deflected goal and another credited to him despite it being an obvious own goal at Brum.
This after 1028 minutes of Championship football and another 88 minutes in the FA Cup?
Do you really think we shouldn't be aiming higher and getting better than that in the summer?
FFS.

He just doesnt hold the ball up well enough(this is also Sporar's major flaw). Include his poor finishing then he doesnt really add up to much - from his performances for us.
Unless you have a striker like Vardy who is like a greyhound on the break, every striker must be able to play with his back to goal and hold the ball up before laying it off.
We have defenders who can hit the strikers with a nice pass but too many times they spill it without bringing in those who can move forward quickly like tav and jones. Too often, instead of putting a shoulder into the defender and holding the ball, theyre looking for a foul and throwing themselves to the floor.
Viduka was the last player we had who could do this. Mind you, he was the last striker we had full stop.

Yes I'd take him, there's definetly a good player in there but if we move on then so be it. I've seen it mentioned you wanted Gibson gone, I hope that's no longer the case because that would be sheer lunacy. 🤣🤷‍♂️
