Where will Connolly end up?

I know i'm in the minority here, but I really don't understand the criticism of him.

His all round play is good, he's quick and he works hard. Anyone who understands football can surely see there's a player in there? Putting him in your all time worst boro 11 or saying he should be playing league 1 is just narrow minded in my opinion.

It just really isn't dropping for him in the box.

He's the sort of player who I think would flourish playing alongside a "prolific" striker.
Ok, so you claim to understand football more than most on here but you also think Connolly is quick? Talk us through these qualities. Can’t hold the ball up, doesn’t create, can’t finish, doesn’t make intelligent runs, goes down looking for cheap fouls as soon as the ball is played into him. Need I go on? He’s shown absolutely no qualities whatsoever!

He’s not even comfortably taller than Watmore who is 5’9!

Taller than Jermaine Defoe? John Fleck? I’m guessing he’s 5’6
The numbers I posted are easy enough to check newy.
He is supposedly 1.75m.
The others are the differences in height to 1.75m
Phillips and Defoe are 1.70m. You can get the rest.

I would rather have kept things as they were in January in the top half of the pitch. Hernandez, Uche, Watmore, Sporar and Coburn. I would have used the wages/loan fee for Balogun and Connolly and focused on getting a proper goalkeeper.

If Wilder is honest I'm sure he would've expected a lot more from Connolly and Balogun (especially Balogun). Connolly's poor performances have nothing to do with height. You don't have to be 6ft plus to be a decent centre forward, as countless strikers have proved over the years. He's just an average player and I haven't seen anything to suggest that he will become anything more than that. I reckon he will fade away into the lower leagues over the next few years.
Maybe January’s decisions will see us do better in the summer , either the likes of balogun will be better prepared for a full season with us or the manage will focus elsewhere . Nit sure if there’s a decent striker on this ‘quality ‘ free transfer list .

I talked to a Luton fan who had him on loan as they were climbing up the leagues. He said that he was awful there and that the fans didn’t rate him at all.

Think Balogun will make it, have to remember he has played barely any senior games. Give him a few years and he will be a premier league player
I think Balogun will make it, but I think it will be below Premier League level.

I have a sneaking suspicion we will sign him.
Gibson wont sanction that, hes on too much money and doesnt deliver, he will be able to see what the fans can see, that hes a headless chicken with no end product. There will be better options for alot less money available in the summer.

If we sign him it means his form will have picked up dramatically in the last few games.

Wilder, whilst defending him publicly, isn't an idiot. If there continues to be little to no end product in the remaining games and we miss out on the playoffs then why on earth would we sign him?
