* The unofficial "official" Boro v West Brom Match-day Thread and Programme *

agreed, he does work hard, reminds me of Paul Dickov, not afraid to mix it with people much bigger than him, always closing down, always in the face, and a right mood sod. I'm sure he will hit a purple patch soon and grab a few goals.
Wishful thinking, nothing at all to indicate a purple patch in fact he seems to get in other boro players way in the box. Watmore creates more in 10 mins than connelly does in 90.

Delighted with that.
I'd actually like to defend Lumley, given the way we play and how he has to cover behind quite often. Yes, he does make at least one 'ffs' decision per game, but I think that as we evolve as a team we'll see fewer errors of judgement all over the pitch.
I also think that both Balogan and Connelly would benefit from trying to be less involved in deeper areas. When you look at McGree;s contribution and the way that Crooks plays then I think both of our strikers would be far better off getting into the box and working the channels facing the goal rather than dropping deep to get on the ball.
We are still clearly a work in progress, despite some stellar form of late. When we click we are sensational, but we still have work to do to get to the level where I think Wilder can take us to with his brand of football.

Tav as a LWB has to be the way forward especially against Barnsley. I like Taylor but he offers nothing going forward and puts way too much pressure and focus on Jones.

Balogun shouldn’t start again in my opinion. He’s looked good coming off the bench but he just doesn’t cut it in a two up top. Sporar and Connolly and then Watmore off the bench if he’s not going to start.

McNair was MoM for me, he was awesome defensively tonight and everything goes through him in the build ups
Poor sod was knackered, battered and worn out, at the end.
They make these lads tough in Northern Ireland

It's always fun to come on here and read this thread after iv got back from the game. All these people on here moaning on and on during the game even though they are not at the game. I'd like to tell you that when that second goal went in everybody was celebrating with the people around them not typing away on the phone complaining about things. What a fcuking win UTB.

Ikpeazu and Coburn can't play in the role required so yes they are far worse than all 4 of them.
Not sure why Ikpeazu is being discussed, especially at this point in time. Firstly he's at Cardiff at the moment and secondly, given that he was sent out on loan by Wilder, I've a feeling he's unlikely to be with us next season.

I reckon he might get trouble for what he said about the referee.
he isn't one for complaining at refs, hardly ever does it. He might get a ticking off, but no action because it was clearly a terrible performance, and bias in the mistakes he made, not even like it was the same for both sides. Is he Steve Bruce's friend or something?

Reading the match thread on the West Brom board even they recognised that they were getting all the decisions and he was “giving nothing to Boro”. A significant indication of how bias he was if even the opposition fans say so.

The ref had a shocker. I'm certainly not disputing that. I just suspect that Wilder might have slightly over stepped the (rather sterile) line of what you can say about refs these days!
