Folarin Balogun

Hopefully there will be a few thousand extra on the gate on Saturday. Things definitely feel much more positive about the club.

We are lucky to have SG as the chairman.

it's basically the same isn't it.
£1m loan fee + 15% of £43k/week = £1.17m
£0 loan fee + 100% of £43k/week = £1.12m

Really excited for this. I just can't believe we've managed to get this one over the line and not a Fulham or Bournemouth. Has to be Balogun and Sporar up front together, yes?

Comment about central striker is interesting. I wonder if other interested clubs were looking at playing wide in a front 3 or something. I think we're quite unusual in playing with 2 central strikers.
From what I have seen, Balogun seems quite similar to Sporar and possibly wouldn't combine brilliantly with him so maybe the plan is that he'll sub in for Sporar after about 60 minutes given the way that Wilder seems to do that with strikers. Say we start with Sporar & Connolly & then bring on Balogun and/or Watmore, that looks like it could be a very tasty forward line. It also means there is intense competition for the starting places which has to be a good thing. Or course, that assumes that both Balogun and Connolly will make the grade at championship level.

There's absolutely no basis to say that he'll be any better than Sporar or Watmore, or even Akpom. But I hope he comes good!

To add to that I hope we do keep Uche as a different option. If we are 1 up on 75 minutes you're not going to bring a young kid from Arsenal on to hold it up and win free kicks.

That’s my concern albeit a small one. This guy is untried at our level and it’s a bit of a gamble whether he will be successful - therefore a plan B is essential. Certainly the players who are ahead of him at Arsenal couldn’t make much of an impression against Forest on Sunday.

With these loan agreements I just wonder sometimes whether we are somehow obliged to field him for a certain number of games no matter what his form is?

Wasn't Niall Quinn a young kid from Arsenal? He was quite good at that kind of thing.
So was Kevin Campbell.
And Frank Stapleton
