It’s not stating it had any impact on the car, but one of the rules states you can’t touch a car in parc ferme conditions, which max unfortunately did. It’s a completely separate incident to Hamilton’s wing.

I expect it’s a desperate move from Mercedes to get Hamilton off but we will see soon enough.

Vettel got away with it because he wasn’t reported by any team, if he was reported he would be investigated.

Hamilton will need to change the wing anyway penalty or not if the wing isn’t legal. Any changes in parc ferme result in a pit lane start anyway

btw I’m not saying fia shouldn’t fine or warm max of his future conduct if he did touch but no way should he face any on track penalty and this should in no way impact the out come on Lewis illegal wing issue.

It won’t, it will be a warning or a fine maximum for Max I expect. Not really much the FIA can do if it was reported to them, wouldn’t be unfair on the other 9 teams if they didn’t investigate a report of a breach in regulations

Just another example of things being decided off the track which I absolutely hate, really not a good look for the sport especially when we were set for such a great race today and tomorrow. Think whichever driver we all support, the only thing we really want to see is good racing

Max touched the wing and broke parc fermé rules we know he is guilty because we have all seen the video.
What Mercedes will probably ask is: can you guarantee our wing wasn’t tampered with, given it was touched by a third party in Parc Fermé.

Yes because when Max breaks the rules he shouldn’t be punished on track. When Lewis breaks the rules he should.

Mercedes have probably been doing red bull simulations to see if the drs can be manipulated with fingers 😂

Think this is exactly what will have happened. Rules are so complex but I think Hamilton will need to start in the pits if that wing is illegal and they need to change it anyway

Yeah good point.

I think any argument will be thrown out though. How can Max, with one hand, alter something designed to take many many tonnes of load at 200mph

I reckon it’ll be : Hamilton DQed from qualy so pushed to the back. But as you say that’ll mean a wing change so puts him in the pit lane.

Max will get a warning and possibly but unlikely a fine.

While both appear to have broken the rules only one of the infringements resulted in a racing advantage and so I would expect any potential punishments to differ.
