Interesting debate, but it does appear to be running around in circles now.
My opinion (for what it's worth) is that Bond should be kept as a white male. This is what his character was depicted as in the books and preceding movies. I am quite invested in the books and movies, so it is an important subject for me.I get the urge to have more BAME actors and actresses, but this is simply a case of rewriting a character for the sake of inclusivity.
Why change the basis of a franchise? Having a white male is not racist, or exceptional or offensive. Would you have an actor of Korean descent play the role of Tony Montana in a new Scarface movie? No you wouldn't. Because you would then be changing the complete backstory of the character.
If people are that hellbent on a black, asian, trans, female etc movie and book series centred around a secret agent, go ahead and direct one, but leave the Bond franchise out of this. I do wonder if some people are getting offended for the sake of it. And before anyone says, 'well you are the one that seems to be offended' the truth is, erm yes I am. That alone shouldn't justify my argument, but I have already explained my rationale.
