Fuel shortage

The difference is Smalltime is that you believe it's the only factor. And don't say it isn't as you remind is all every other day it is.
Oh and just for reference we aren't the only country in the world suffering from HGV driver shortages, lots of countries in mainland Europe are aswell as America and Canada.

Do you dispute the statements of those who are working at fuel depots around the country?

Keyboard warrior accusations? From the man who called people 'simple' from behind the safety of his iMac miles away from Middlesbrough 🤷
I just don't think it's the only factor. I didn't read the rest of you post, if your initial assumption was wrong then I assume the rest of it was just as incorrect

Two thirds (67%) of voters believe the government has handled the crisis badly, according to a new Opinium poll for the Observer. Even a majority of Conservative voters (59%) thought that the government had responded badly. The majority (68%) said Brexit was partly to blame, including 88% of Remain voters and 52% of Leave voters.

Is there something wrong with you that you can only reply in a condescending way, how about debating in an adult manner.

Real concern for the winter.
Especially if we get a real cold snap.
The NTS is creaking as it is with the vast majority of the infrastructure way past it's Design Life.
Our storage capacity for gas is pitiful. Shameful in fact.
And of course much of our electricity is generated from gas power stations.
Supplies would be cut to Industry first of course before domestic customers are affected but what would that do to wages and teh economy.
And now we're out of the EU there will be no help there.

Brexit. "Lets take back control" Fkwits.

People being inconvenienced acting like it's wartime rationing. I've just finished reading a book, " survivor on the river Kwai," about a soldier's experience working on the Burma railway, there's real hardship and brutality, anyone reading that shouldn't complain about the current situation. I get the impression some on here are pleased about the current (non) situation to say I told you so. Wonder if they would come on if everything was going smooth. It's not where you start it's where you finish.

Well, when someone lies about you what can you do? Debate doesn't workif one said doesn’t need to use facts
It's your default response, you've always been like it, look at you now, demanding apologies for brexit despite voting the party in that set it in motion. Read back through your responses and have a think. It can't be everyone else's fault all the time.

So anyone in any situation better than forced labour on a Burmese railway has no right to complain about anything?

Se

Im just saying people should get a sense got perspective.,and using that as an example of real suffering.
Not sure that sense of perspective will come into either side of this argument.

Both leave and remain supporters believe they are correct with a large mass of people in the middle who don't know who to believe anymore.

Arguments on both sides use wild extravagances - but it does seem that people who are now trying to say that we should just accept the current situation and get on with it are not really being very fair - when we were in the EU, the whole point of leaving was so that we didn't have to put up with things that some people didn't like and they were very vocal about them.

So until we are death marched into forced labour camps, given starvation rations, suffering from cholera, dysentery & dehydration and face the death penalty for not working ourselves to death fast enough; when asked how we are coping with empty shops, fuel shortages, cold & dark houses, we have to say "..can't complain..".

Have I got that right?

I was referring to the current fuel (non) crisis, but you are right that people are using it as ammunition to push their remain agenda. Others on the leave side will have their points to push. One of starmers " principles" was using British firms and workers for public contracts, couldn't do that under EU law,

So, what do we need to do to get lorry drivers back here? Stop calling them foriegn people who only come here for the benefits and steal our jobs? Give them more money but seeing as they already get more money in the EU why would they come here? Invest in decent facilities where they can wash and use proper toilets and take a shower? These already exist in the EU. What about cutting red tape at our borders? But would that mean us not being in control of our borders?
The fact is- if they weren't treated like sh1te in the first place we probably would not have this problem
Oh dear- what a dilemma

I remember this being pushed in the late 00's and Europe didn't have any negative views on it - EU law was only every brought up by people with an agenda - the EU very rarely got involved, we were just told they would.

Our local BP depot has 50 million litres of diesel in one tank alone. It has 5 diesel tanks and 8 petrol tanks. That's 100's of millions of litres of fuel. Our local station has a delivery of 19 thousand litres of petrol on Friday. By Saturday at 2pm they had no fuel. There isn't a shortage of petrol there is loads of idiots over buying.

A family friend is a tanker driver which is where I got the above information.

Some folks just want to complain.

Ffs, this is down to the moronic British public.

We are as a nation pathetic, covid strikes what do we do, stock up on bog and roll pasta just to make were alright and screw everybody else.

One fuel depot announces its had to close because a delivery hasn't turned up, what do we do drive miles out of our way to fuel up, just in case.

Fuel is at highest its price for donkeys years and we are in the middle of a climate emergency, so obviously the best course of action is waste fuel driving around looking for fuel to fill up cos you're low as you've driven for miles looking for fuel.

When the furnace was shut by Chorus Government intervention was not allowed ( Vera Baird lost her seat as a consequence) because of EU regulations, the EU would only intervene if those laws were broken.
