The problem in my opinion, is when Warnock said "one more season" (or at least implied it).
It's resulted in, not for the first time, in muddled thinking.
Gibson is happy for us to play the Warnock style, while Warnock is in charge. Fair enough. It's tried and tested.
But very few managers play that way. What's the point recruiting players suited to that system on multiple year deals, if the manager is likely going to b***r off next season? You can't recruit only offering one year contracts though.
So we've ended up with a bit of a hybrid approach. And NW isn't really in a position to object because he's the one planning on retiring.
But it's not really helping anyone. Easy to say with hindsight, but the decision at the end of last season should have been Warnock for at least 2 seasons or someone else.
