Brother in law attacked at match

It seems the days when our hooligan element only targeted other like minded rival hooligans have long since gone. The actions of these cowards last night are what Leeds scum were well renowned for ie attacking ordinary fans. These morons may not have even been to the game but either way would like to see their reactions should they come up against some of the fans of certain other clubs. May not be so brave then!!!!

Honour amongst thieves? Over the years I witnessed a few too many instances of innocent fans being attacked by hooligans "supporting" Boro as well as other clubs.

A couple of years ago I saw some young lads following a couple of away fans through the subways. I wasn't sure what was going on exactly until one of the Boro lads blocked the path of one of the away fans and another tried to trip him. I was right next to them so was able to step in, shout a lot and get the thugs to move away. The away fans were able to slip away somewhat shaken no doubt but the the Boro louts turned back towards the Riverside. I managed to catch up with the away fans and make sure they were OK. But it was horrible to see this. Sad to see youngsters behaving like that.
I noticed a few hanging around the subway on the way to the match around 7:20pm but they were walking away from the ground back towards the town which I thought was odd, along with some random attacks around Linthorpe Rd on a night recently, there is definitely a rouge element at large at the moment that need stopping.

I think that's true. Not trying to glamourise hooliganism but at least back in the day they'd only fight other hooligans who wanted the scrap.

The young lads who were getting in the QPR fans faces last night just looked like young chavs to be honest. They were an embarrassment.

I'm five foot five. Funnily enough I've been targeted a couple of times by angry bald ***** who've ignored my taller mates. Hooligans tend to be sad old ******* with no honour whatsoever, or sometimes their sorry looking offspring. All that stuff about only attacking other hoolies is bull**** in my experience. Given the chance they'd probably try taking on 8 year old girls. It's all about looking good in front of their mates and they're **** scared of taking on anyone who might be able to fight back.

Utter rubbish. In fact most violence was targeted at the "scarfers", the weak and the single fan. Add to that many innocent bystanders (people just shopping in town centres) were knocked over as these "heroes" ran towards or away from trouble. Don't believe the carp that the former "lads" might have you believe; the whole lot of them were just like these little sh!ts attacking a man with his kids from behind, they were cowards and bullies.

Disgusted to hear this. I’m taking my boys (7&8) to Derby this wknd for their 1st away game. Can’t imagine them wanting to go back to another match if they had to witness something like this. I’m not a fan of too much CCTV but more of it around the ground would at least help identify and prosecute the scumbags.

The only time I was ever "attacked" was 1983ish v Chelsea. I was by myself and walking towards the Masham.

I was kicked in the back of the leg by a Boro supporter who mistook me for a Cockney. I turned around and said "What the f*** are you doing you moron", surprised he just said "Sorry mate".

As usual, it's the people who look vulnerable because they are on their own or not up for it. Pure Scum!!

That’s your opinion, however, I don’t talk utter rubbish. My comments are based on my experiences over 40 odd years of following Boro.
Your experiences may differ from mine but at least be respectful of another persons perspectives, I have seen our so called hooligan element ignore ordinary fans whilst seeking out a rival gang and visa versa. Places I’ve been to where any away fan was fair game were such as:- Wolves, Leeds, Man City, Sunderland and some others. No one wants to see people attacked at football matches nor anywhere else for that matter, but talking “utter rubbish” Not in my experiences

You could have picked a better game. A lot of ill feeling from Derby towards Boro. Hopefully it doesn’t extend to anything worse than that

Totally agree. There are some innocent fans on here who have said they've been relieved to have 'Allo' and a few of the lads around when hooligans have tried to start on them. Without the police I am sure they have been grateful for the help of fellow Boro fans/ the Frontline etc

I've been following Boro for over 40 years most of the trouble I have seen has been hooligans v hooligans and the ordinary fans have been left alone. The likes of Millwall and Chelsea have been the exception and attacked innocents from my experiences

As others have said "cowards" is the correct terminology for them.

Never mind banning them from the ground/football, they should be banned from society as they're clearly not fit to belong in it.

At Man City I was relieved to see Frontline. Some City fans were grouping and planning to attack 6 of us. Frontline turned yup and City were on their toes. Very relieved to see them to be honest.
And most would agree with you there. Nobody wants to see violence but if you're being attacked you appreciate those who will defend you
