Players youve met and where was it?

Ben Gibson in the Dickens Inn, he came over because he thought i was Paddy off Emmerdale(Unfortunately i do look like him so no offence was taken) he bought drinks all night for me and the missus, top top bloke.

Also sat next to Shola Ameobi on a train to Newcastle, never said anything as he was on the phone the entire journey.

Jack grealish, oldie Watkins and Jessie lingaard at the recent camp at rockliffe whilst we were at the golf club. In the short time we spoke, did seem pleasant down to earth lad's. Socially distant photos with kids as well was no problem 👍

As a 9 year old in February 1957, I met Brian Clough at his 11 Valley Road home. My Dad took me around with my brand new autograph book just prior to his upcoming England U-23 matches with Scotland and Bulgaria.

We returned there to pick it up in May of that year just prior to our family emigration to Canada. Cloughie had had the book filled from front to back with international autographs from those 2 matches plus all the Boro players from that season. He was very happy with his accomplishment and gave me a big smile and a pat on the back.

Sometime over the years though that book has sadly disappeared. My dear Mam bless her soul couldn’t recall what happened.

There’s a big reward for anyone who finds it!! It’s probably in the same place as my Mickey Mantle, Henry Aaron, Willie Mays and Roberto Clemente baseball cards of the same era 😊

I’ll go for the first one I ever met And I’ve said it on here before:
Lived next door but one and went to school with Stan Cummins, I remember when he signed for Boro, it didn’t seem like a big deal.
He was at night school at Kirby, English Language with me. ( It took me two attempts ) My first ever complementary ticket.

Queudrue at the top of my street - pulled over to ask for directions to the golf club

Not mine, but a mate who is a Stoke fan bumped into the entire Burnley squad on their Xmas Do in Dublin couple of years back. Ben Mee was buying the drinks.

I was in the dickens inn on a christmas do following an afternoon in the baltimore. The whole boro squad came in , my boss ( geordie,) couldnt believe it , emerson and juninho.( If I remember only Rav was missing) He got all the autographs saying they were for his son ( who I knew was a mackam)

Most random one was Dion Dublin in the gents at Cheltenham. I couldn’t really speak to him other than a “now then” as he was stood about 6” further back than i was.

I also sat opposite Morten Gamst Pedersen on the tube at some point during the weekend we had been d*cked 3-0 by WHU in 2007. They’d drawn 0-0 with Chelski he told me they were pleased to come away with the point

Stuart Ripley came to my comprehensive school in Skelton when I was a kid. He'd just played in Albania for the U21s. We had a q&a with him in School assembly, wanting to impress him with my Football knowledge I asked him in my squeaky schoolboy voice "What was Albania like Stuart?". He replied " Rough....like Skelton"

I also met Adama Traore at the cinema a genuinely lovely bloke.

met woodgate in uno's in yarm a few years ago. maybe I was responsible for the afcb spell? ;)

Is it possible to walk thru yarm & not meet a football person?

Met the whole 87-88 squad serving them Pie and Peas at Norton Cricket Club after a preseaon match against Norton. Kernie had 2 pies!

Met Keegan before a Fulham game when he was there. He could tell you the moon was made of cheese and you'd believe him. Met Butch Wilkins after the game, a true gent.

Alan Shearer at Newcastle Airport after a flight back from from schipohl, little bit of a 'pre-madonna'

I ran alongside Keegan in the Great North Run in the early 80s. He had a half and half Newcastle / Sunderland shirt. I was impressed with his fitness but left him with 2 miles to go . . . .

Had a ticket for the exec boxes for villa home game at the end of the 97 season

Was bit ***ed but passed Steve Staunton on the stairs on the way out (he’d just been sent off)

Jim Irvine at his house in Trimdon Ave, embarrasingly knocked my cup of tea onto his carpet. 2nd time he met a busload of us Ayresome Angels in a pub in Edinburgh after he left Boro and made his debut for Hearts,

Worked labouring with ex Boro right back Neville Chapman in Lackenby steel works during the summer shutdown circa 1970, think he'd just moved to Darlo

Both real gents

Nigel Pearson in Shrewsbury, dressed as Sherlock Holmes, at the 50th birthday party for his sister-in-law, who I work worked with.

Andy Townsend, at Bromley FC, at another friend's 50th (his cousin). He was dressed like Dr Watson in tweeds, but this one wasn't fancy dress!!

Nicky Bailey in Tiger Tiger newcastle. Think he was shocked that someone actually recognised him
