They didn't deserve to lose, but deserve to win is some stretch considering how little they created. We cleared a header off the line that was going wide, we hit the post. That's the highlights of the game.
That's not pomposity, it's how I see the game with my couches head on.
Why did we look poor, both sides looked poor in creativity. Scotland defended very well, they got 9 outfield players behind the ball quickly and didn't dive in. It was disciplined. England were too slow switching the ball wide, which allowed Scotland to shuffle over and cut the space. The start of our problems were that Stones didn't shift the ball fast enough, I think he was nervous of having one of his errors, he also didn't drive forward into midfield he needed to do that and give us an extra body in possession. James for some reason wouldn't drive on, and should have been subbed for me. I think Rice and Philips didn't have stinkers but didn't get on the ball in a positive manner. That made it predictable. Saying that, Scotland didn't get in behind us, didn't get many dangerous balls into the box and were relying on looking for a mistake they created very little. 0-0 was a fair reflection.
Regarding Southgate, you are talking silly. Southgate has more competitive wins for England than any manager every, that's a fact, so if he is out of his depth that really doesn't say a lot for every other manager ever. He could have made better subs but the players he out out were good enough but a few had poor games particularly Kane.
I'll stick my neck out Scotland will go home with 1 point and England will progress to the next round..if you think Southgate is so out of his depth then tell us we will not qualify out of the group and if you think Scotland were so good tell me they will get through.
