10 England games is hardly a lot to show your ability, so you're point is bizarre.Saka isn't a right back. TAA is.
Saka has played pretty well for England in the few chances he's been given. TAA hasn't.
Your entire argument for TAA is based on how he plays for Liverpool (and bizarrely what he's won for Liverpool) and not how he's played for England with the chances he's already had.
He's played 12 times for England and other than a single goal and a single assist he's been poor. Somehow you've decided these 12 appearances aren't enough to fairly to judge him on at international level, and despite seemingly acknowledging his less than impressive England showings, think he should play for England because of his attacking prowess for Liverpool.10 England games is hardly a lot to show your ability, so you're point is bizarre.
English players hardly play for their country compared to their club, so how on earth can a player's club form not be taken into consideration? Especially when they are playing very well. Why does the England manager even bother going to club games at all?
How many goals and assists has Walker for England? Has Walker been faultless for his country? Certainly not. It was his stupid mistake that almost cost England in their first game in Russia. In fact, Walker is the type who does have a mistake in him (both for Man City and England). He's played 12 times for England and other than a single goal and a single assist he's been poor. It isn't my point that is bizarre here.
Your argument against Alexander-Arnold is his perceived faults for England!Right, so now your argument that TAA should play for England is because of whatever flaw you see in Walker's game?
I don't care how many goals and assists Walker has for England, what I do care about is that generally he's one of England's better performers when he plays either as a right back, or on the right side of a back three. For this reason he will be in the squad. I'm very certain of that.
I initially said no he shouldn't take TAA, but yes to Sancho. At the time TAAs form was poor and he shouldn't have been picked. He's picked up now.Surely Southgate can't be stupid enough to leave out Trent Alexander-Arnold?
Jason Sancho too for that matter.
Does this seem illogical to you, that I might think a player who has played poorly for England previously, and clearly doesn't fit the system the manager wants to play, probably shouldn't be in the Euros squad, especially when there's players available who do fit that system and do play well?Your argument against Alexander-Arnold is his perceived faults for England!
Likewise, so I'm not even going to respond to you from now.Does this seem illogical to you, that I might think a player who has played poorly for England previously, and clearly doesn't fit the system the manager wants to play, probably shouldn't be in the Euros squad, especially when there's players available who do fit that system and do play well?
I can't even make sense of your argument anymore.
You can't make sense of an argument which basically points out that a player who has played poorly for England and doesn't fit the system and style the manager wants, probably shouldn't be selected? I think you do understand it, but just cannot accept people disagreeing with you.Likewise, so I'm not even going to respond to you from now.
Definitely. With 26 spaces TAA must be in the squad. He's a differential that England could really do with. Dier is an interesting one as England are not blessed with many good Centre Backs. If Maguire isn't fit then the Central Defence looks pretty dodgy.I initially said no he shouldn't take TAA, but yes to Sancho. At the time TAAs form was poor and he shouldn't have been picked. Since the squad size has been increased by 3 I would definitely take TAA, depending on his ability to understand he isn't automatically in the side and won't kick up a fuss.
I also said we should have Dier in the squad because he covers multiple positions, however with the increased squad size I would drop him and have a dedicated 4th choice CB and dedicated 4th choice CM
its' sad that for years we were blessed with so many great CBs, from Rio and Terry, back to Butcher and Wright we've never struggled at CB....now we've suddenly got an abundance of attacking players, but are struggling for CBs.Definitely. the defensive midfielders allow us to play all those attacking players without the burden of dropping back constantly. It allows us to pin teams back because they fear our pace which stays forward. It's not like these CDMs are not ball players, Rice is a superb passer. The Leeds lad is just a spoiler, and I'm not a big fan, hell lose his spot to Bellingham within 18 months. The right back berth is the least of our problems, centre of midfield is our biggest for me. How many defensive midfielders do we need to play and surely we have better options than Phillips?
It's typical in many ways. In one era there was genuine world class centre backs, but a lack of technical talent meaning England couldn't keep the ball. It's now the other way entirely.its' sad that for years we were blessed with so many great CBs, from Rio and Terry, back to Butcher and Wright we've never struggled at CB....now we've suddenly got an abundance of attacking players, but are struggling for CBs.
Southgate doesn't trust our centre backs is why.The right back berth is the least of our problems, centre of midfield is our biggest for me. How many defensive midfielders do we need to play and surely we have better options than Phillips?
Rice is a very good player who can support the forwards too, we need another the same alongside him, simply being a spoiler isn't an option for me. We need one to hold when the other pushes on and for both players to be able to do so. Perhaps Bellingham is needed now.the defensive midfielders allow us to play all those attacking players without the burden of dropping back constantly. I know they're not the best but by sitting deep are we helping them?Southgate doesn't trust our centre backs is why.
Bellingham is developing into a really quality player. He's been very good for Dortmund this season.Rice is a very good player who can support the forwards too, we need another the same alongside him, simply being a spoiler isn't an option for me.
